Ford Ranger will soon be making its way to the Indian showroom floors. However, recently a privately imported example was mistaken for a prototype. Well, here it is, doing duties at farmer protest.

Recent reports have confirmed that the Ford Ranger (Endeavour's pickup truck sibling) is making its way to the Indian market. It is claimed that a limited quantity of the Ford Ranger Raptor will also come to Indian shores. Also, a set of pictures of a modified Ford Ranger which was spotted in Mohali, Punjab were shared across the internet as the Ranger Raptor prototype. Interestingly, it is a private import and belongs to Mr Chiranjeev Bajwa of Team Godwin. This Ford Ranger was recently spotted participating in the farmer protest on the outskirts of Delhi. The new images have cleared the doubt that it isn’t a Ranger Raptor prototype, but we do admire the road presence this pickup truck has.

This particular example is the Ford Ranger that is sold in the international markets. However, it is the Ranger Raptor’s body kit which lends it an increased butch appeal. Moreover, it now rides on bulbous tyres that are shod on Ford Endeavour’s 18-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, it also gets a tailgate cladding.

Talking of the carmaker’s plan, the blue oval is considering to launch the Ranger in the Indian market. A batch of 18 trucks was spotted on a fleet of flatbeds in Salem, Tamil Nadu in a partially-assembled state. They missed out on the doors, rear deck, and bumpers. Well, these prototypes have finally reached Jayem Automotive’s facility in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

Ford Ranger is offered with a 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine in the international markets. This 4-cylinder oil burner is the same unit that does duties on the Endeavour. Indeed, it is likely to be offered in the same state of tune as the Endeavour in the Indian market with a peak power output of 170 PS and max torque of 420 Nm. For the transmission duties, the Ranger will come with a 10-speed automatic gearbox. For the Ranger Raptor, Ford uses a twin-turbocharger setup to extract 310 horses and 476 Nm from this 2.0L diesel engine. However, the 10-speed automatic transmission remains the same. Once launched, the Ford Ranger will come across as key rival to the Isuzu V-Cross.
