The performance of petrol-powered Tata Altroz is nothing to write home about, but what are the pros and cons of this Maruti Baleno-rival when driven around hills? Here's a video that covers all of them.

Tata Altroz is one of the best looking cars that are currently on sale in the country. It is designed on the baselines of Impact 2.0 design language. The Altroz is also the first car to be underpinned by the ALFA platform. While the Altroz is loaded with features and scores high on the style quotient, it comes with a 3-cylinder petrol motor, which feels a little dull in terms of performance. This leads to another concern - how good is the Altroz in hills? To find out the answer, we came across a video on YouTube, which was uploaded by R&R Vlogs Creation. In the video, the host explains the pros and cons of the petrol-powered Altroz on hilly roads.

The host starts by the tractability of Altroz’s motor in the second and third gear. However, he adds that the car somehow feels noisy. Also, when starting to roll-off from a standstill, the absence of hill-hold assist is surely missed. Moreover, the large A-pillars create a blind spot when driving around twisties. Also, the host claims that on non-barricaded carriageways, it comes up as a big obstruction in driver’s views.

Talking of the mileage, he pans the camera to show the real-time fuel efficiency on the instrument cluster, which can be seen hovering around 11.3 kmpl. The owner claims that it is decent for a petrol-powered car. Next, he talks about the reflection of light on the dashboard. However, we think it is because of the angle of inclination of roads in hilly regions.

Also, the owner adds that Altroz feels planted around corners and corner stability control does help it with the task. Apart from the corner stability control, the Altroz comes with a slew of safety aids. It gets ABS with EBD, dual-front airbags, rear parking sensors and camera, seat belt alarm, high-speed alert, collapsible steering wheel, and more. All of these equipment help the Altroz with a 5-star G-NCAP crash test rating.

Tata Altroz is offered with 1.2L petrol and 1.5 diesel engine options. The petrol is rated to put out a rated power output of 86 PS and 113 Nm, while the oil burner develops 90 PS against 200 Nm. Sadly, Tata Motors is offering both of these engines with a 5-speed MT only. The option of an automatic gearbox is not available as of now. The most premium Tata hatchback ever goes on to rival Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20.
