Tata has a bit of a clash of siblings between its Altroz XE and the Tiago XT in 2020, the models are priced withing Rs 10000 of each other and is bound to create a dilemma for buyers. In the video below we take a look between both the models and see which is the best fit for you.

Tata motors have come quite a long with its new car range. It was not too long back when they were producing very mediocre cars like the Indica Vista and Manza which wasn’t too much of a sales success and gave the marque a bad rep when the quality of materials was mentioned. A completely revamped company policy and the launch of models like the Tiago and Tigor has helped erase the memories, with both being very good options in their respective segments and posting strong sales figures every month.

Tata Tiago beckoned a new design language for Tata as it debuted sharp visuals with its Tri-arrow design grille and angled headlamps. For the XT trim, you get halogen bulbs and no fog lights as standard. You get simple wheel caps over steel wheels instead of alloys for this trim while going over to the rear you get simple halogen units for its signature boomerang tail lamps.

Coming to the interior the Tata Tiago XT gets quite a lot of features like power windows with the driver’s side getting controls for all of them including ORVM controls and all the doors get useful pockets. The insides are in a dual-tone finish which stands out in the segment and you get fabric trim which should be better in humid conditions like ours, while HARMAN supplies the infotainment system for the centre console. You get a sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel and an all-digital display for the meters which displays various useful options of data you can choose while driving.

The Tata Altroz XE we have here is admittedly the base trim and it shows. You get even sharper styling on the front with black and chrome inserts on the grille. You get halogen bulbs for the headlamps as well which comes with inbuilt indicators, though again like in the Tiago you don’t get fog lamps as standard. On the side profile you the ORVMs get a piano black treatment which extends to the rear window. You only get steel wheels and even no wheel caps which cheapen the experience a bit. The rear gets new angular tail lamps and the rear gets the piano black colour scheme as well in a dual-tone finish. It is the widest car in its segment which gives it a very squared stance compared to its rivals.

The interior of the Tata Altroz differs from the Tiago with a sculpted dashboard and better plastics but skimps out on a lot of features like not getting an infotainment display, a semi-digital instrument console with MFD, and power windows for front doors only. You do get a huge glovebox and the doors open 90 degrees for easy access. The Tiago XT is priced at 5.34 Lakh while the Altroz XE costs 5.44 lakh since they’re so similarly priced it will down to you the buyer which car suits your needs better.
