Tata Altroz is the company’s first premium hatchback. It was first showcased by the carmaker last year at the Geneva Motor Show and was launched in our market earlier this year. It rubs shoulders with the likes of Maruti Baleno, Honda Jazz and Hyundai Elite i20. Tata cars are quite popular around the world for their stylish looks and robust build quality. No surprise, then, that Tata Altroz is the safest car in its segment and has scored 5 Star rating at the Global NCAP crash test. Here’s a recent TVC from the carmaker highlighting the safety rating of the premium hatchback.

The TVC video shows a few small clips from the crash test that was conducted by Global NCAP. In this test, mannequins are kept on the seats of the car, and then, the car hits a wall or an object at a specific speed. Afterwards, the data is collected from the body of the vehicle and the impact of the accident on the dummies. At last, a score is given to the car out of 5 stars. One can see in the video, Tata Altroz went via the same process. The front profile of the hatchback had absorbed all the shocks and cabin of the premium hatchback remained safe. Moreover, as soon as the car hits the wall, the driver and passenger airbags are also deployed, which again ensured the occupant safety.

The A, B and C pillars of the car remained intact, which shows how safe the premium Tata hatchback really is. The Altroz is based on the company’s ALFA architecture. Inside, it comes loaded with features like a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, ambient lighting, cruise control, automatic climate control and so on. Mechanically, it derives power from a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel mill. The former puts out 85PS and 114 Nm of torque, while the latter churns out power and torque outputs of 90 PS and 200 Nm. Transmission duties are done by a 5-speed MT.
