As you’ve already known, Tata’s first foray into the compact SUV segment is the Nexon. The Tata Nexon first entered the market in 2017 when the competition has already been established by some successful models like Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Creta and Ford Ecosport. The Tata Nexon is, in truth, a bit late to the party though, it has successfully carved a niche for itself within one year of presence. Particularly, it’s a great honour to be the first made-in-India to achieve five-star ratings from Global NCAP’s safety test, which creates a new benchmark in the Indian car space.

Although the Tata Nexon is a highly recognized capable product, it started to show its age amid new modern models in the segment like the Hyundai Venue or Mahindra XUV300. As a result, Tata felt it’s high time to give the Nexon another facelift which is set to be here by the upcoming festive season. In a bid to boost the sales of the current model and clear the stocks, Tata is offering two set of discounts on the existing Nexon. Any customer now can avail a cash discount of Rs 15,000 and an exchange bonus of Rs 25,000 for the petrol-powered Nexon while that of the diesel models stand at Rs 25,000 and Rs 25,000, respectively.

Tata Motors introduced the Hexa in the belief that the SUV could be a game-changer in the segment and could help Tata up the ante in the domestic passenger car space. After two years of existence, the Tata Hexa received a mild update in February 2019, seeing a slew of cosmetic changes and feature upgrades. The Tata Hexa is updated with a new Harman-sourced 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system as seen in the Tata Tiago XZ+, taking the place of the outgoing 5.0-inch unit. Other than that, it also comes with a premium 10-speaker JBL audio system. There’s no mechanical change on the new Hexa.

Henceforth, prices for the Hexa has been increased by a margin to avoid overlapping with the Harrier. Currently, the Tata Hexa is the most expensive passenger car in the company’s product range, at least until the launch of the Tata Buzzard. The Tata Harrier is quite a compelling SUV. It is recognized as a good-looking SUV with a solid build, great street presence, top-notch convenience-oriented features and safety-centric bits. Tata offers the Harrier with a 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine which also does the same duties on the MG Hector and Jeep Compass. The Harrier’s diesel motor could produce 140 HP of power and 350 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed MT option.

Despite being quite a competent SUV, the Harrier also can’t avoid being affected by the slowdown in the automotive industry. Having said, sales of the Harrier declined at lowest in August 2019. Therefore, for the first time since its launch, the Tata Harrier is available with a discount on offer. Tata currently gives the Harrier’s customers an exchange bonus of Rs 35,000. There is no cash discount for the SUV as yet.

6. Tata Safari Storme

Cash discount: Rs 40,000

Exchange bonus: Rs 25,000

The true-blue premium Tata Safari has been witnessing almost 7 years of presence. The mid-size SUV was first unveiled in January 2012 during the eleventh Auto Expo and then officially entered the market in October of the same year. Despite its old age, the Safari Storme still garnered a set of loyal buyers in India, which is mainly attributed to its muscular styling design.

Other than that, the Tata Safari Storme is also a true off-roader. Tata Motors made some facelifts to the Safari Storme over the years, all the ways to enhance its performance and fuel mileage. The 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that powers the car can crank out 156 PS of power at 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque at 1,750 – 2,500 rpm.

There’re some rumours that Tata is planning to discontinue the Safari Storme from the market owing to the upcoming safety regulations and emission norms. While the information about the car’s discontinuation is yet to be confirmed, what we can ensure is that the company is offering the Storme with attractive offers this month. For now, customers can avail up to Rs 40,000 cash discount and Rs 25,000 exchange bonus on the purchase of the model.

Has been on sale in the country for around four years, the Tata Bolt is still a solid contender in Tata’s hatchback lineup that boasts good ride quality and a roomy cabin for users, to say the least. However, when talking about the features, the Tata Bolt fails to endear itself to other newer competitive vehicles. Powering the Bolt is a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine and a 1.3-litre 4-cylinder turbo-diesel unit, which can belt out 90 HP/ 142 Nm (for the petrol model) and 75 HP/ 190 Nm (for the diesel version). The Bolt is currently on offer with the overall benefits to the tune of Rs 70,000 comprising a cash discount only.
