Tata Harrier Imagined As Overland-friendly Pickup Truck

Tata Harrier is one of the best-looking SUVs that are currently on sale in the country. In February this year, Tata Motors updated the Harrier with a powerful iteration of the outgoing 2.0L diesel engine along with the addition of a few more features. However, the overall design of the Harrier remained the same. In its current form, it looks scintillating from all the angles but lacks the butchness that a pickup truck comes with. To let you folks understand how brute and rough the Harrier would look like as a pickup truck, here's a digital rendering of the Harrier pickup truck that is created by Abin Designs. In the rendering, the Harrier has been extensively modified.

On the front, this Harrier pickup truck features a metal skid plate and a metal bumper. The latter also houses a winch along with a LED light bar and numerous auxiliary lamps. In comparison to a regular Harrier, it now gets dual-element LED DRLs. Also, it gets a roof rack, over which a long LED light bar is fixed. Moving over to the sides, one can see that it rocks a set of custom cladding for the wheel arches. The ORVM units are redesigned as well.

This modified Harrier pickup truck sits on a custom suspension setup that aids it with increased ride height and suspension travel. The 17-inch tyres are replaced with chunkier MT-grade rubber, shod on a set of off-road alloy wheels. After the C-pillar, the roof of the Harrier has been chopped to fix a flatbed. The loading bay gets a roll cage that also houses a tent, sand tracks, collapsible canopy, jerry cans and more.

Well, as of now, Tata Motors does not have any plans to launch a lifestyle pickup truck based on the Harrier or the Xenon. But, it could be a case in the future when there is high demand in this segment. Talking of powertrain, Harrier gets a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine from FCA that puts out 170 PS against 350 Nm. The gearbox options on the Harrier include a 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT.
