Tata Harrier Reimagined As A Pick-Up, Looks Ready For The Mountains

For two years, the Tata Harrier was the automaker’s flagship. Though that spot has now gone to the recently launched all-new Tata Safari, the Harrier still remains a good choice if you do not need a third row of seats. The Harrier is based on the same OMEGARC platform which also underpins the new Safari, and is derived from Land Rover’s D8 platform which is used by the Discovery Sport. Though it is a strictly front-wheel-drive SUV, the Harrier does get a Land Rover Terrain Response System inspired rotary dial to change between different conditions and terrains. Tata gave the SUV an update last year which updated the engine to BS-VI spec, a bigger panoramic sunroof, an auto gearbox option, and dual-tone alloy wheels on the top trims. The Harrier competes with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass, Kia Seltos, and the MG Hector in a very competitive segment. Today we came across this render which reimagines the Harrier as a pick-up.

This Tata Harrier Pick-Up render has been uploaded by abin_designs_511 on Instagram. Being a pick-up, the glass and area roof area behind the B-pillar has been replaced with a loading bay. The front-end shares the general design with the Harrier, but gets a new headlamp design with the fog lamps close by, new DRLs flank the grille and there’s an aluminium skid plate added to the bumper. On the side, there are new bash plates under the door line. The whole vehicle now sits on raised suspension for increased ground clearance and the pick-up gets a set of matte-black dished alloys with off-road tyres. Overall, this is a pretty well-done render, and also proves that the Harrier will be suited for a pick-up version.

The Tata Harrier is powered by an FCA-sourced 2-litre turbo-diesel unit.  The powertrain makes peak power and torque figures of 170 PS and 350 Nm and can be paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Prices for the Harrier range between Rs 13.99 lakh for the base XE trim and goes up to Rs 19.24 lakh for the range-topping XZ+ DT variant. Do note all prices are ex-showroom.
