Tata Hexa is an extremely capable vehicle. How capable, you ask? Well, watch this video of a Tata Hexa rescuing a heavyweight truck stuck in the mud.
Equipped with an AWD system, the Tata Hexa is an extremely capable off-road SUV with the Indian auto enthusiast. In fact, it is a crossover rather than an SUV. The Hexa s currently the flagship product of the home-grown auto manufacturer, although that honour would soon belong to the upcoming Tata Gravitas. Being a new-age vehicle, the Tata Hexa has a quite aggressive appearance and is better equipped in comparison with the old-age ones of Tata. As proof of the vehicle's abilities, you can see the video below. In the video, the Tata Hexa has done a good job in rescuing a stuck truck from the mud.

In the video, we can see a container truck, with probably a lot of heavy goods, is tightly stuck in the mud and cannot escape by itself. A Tata Hexa XT 4X4 is attached to the truck with a rope and started to pull the truck away. The first few attempts are unsuccessful, but then, after several tries, the Hexa managed to tow the truck out of the mud. This event shows that the Tata Hexa, an MPV with SUV-ish appearance and an AWD system, proves to be a multitasking vehicle which can serve as a people mover, an off-roader, and even a rescuing vehicle.

With regards to Tata Hexa itself, the MPV is available in seven variants, the top-spec one of which is the XT 4X4 variant, equipped with an electronically controlled AWD system. The Tata Hexa keeps under its hood a 2.2-litre turbo Varicor 400 motor with two states of tunes. The lower state of tunes has a maximum power of 148 bhp and a peak torque of 320 Nm. In this state of tune, the engine is only mated to a 5-speed MT gearbox. In the meanwhile, in the higher state of tune, the motor can generate up to 156 bhp against 400 Nm and is coupled with either a 6-speed MT gearbox or an AT unit.
The Tata Hexa is now available in seven variants with the top-spec being equipped with the AWD system.
In the Indian auto market, the Tata Hexa is priced in the range from INR 12.99 lakh for the base XE variant to INR 18.37 lakh for the top-spec XT 4X4 trim (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi). In this price range, it directly competes against the Jeep Compass, the Mahindra XUV500, the Toyota Innova Crysta, and its younger sibling, the upcoming Tata Gravitas. In fact, after Gravitas replaces the Hexa as the flagship model of Tata, we aren't sure what the company has planned for the latter.
