Check out this modified Tata Nexon with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, mounted in portrait mode, resembling a Tesla.

Tesla is perhaps the biggest electric vehicle manufacturer in the world, having sold 3,67,500 units last year alone. The company is known for offering brilliant tech and luxury in its cars, like LED ambient lighting, autopilot, and gigantic touchscreen infotainment systems. The last one is quite a popular upgrade in customised vehicles, even in India. Here, we have a Tata Nexon which has been modified with a large, Tesla-like touchscreen system.

The video above was posted by Nitin Grover on his YouTube channel. Here, we can see him sitting inside a 2020 Tata Nexon (facelift model). Right off the bat, we can see the infotainment screen in front of us. In actuality, this is an 8.0-inch android tablet, immaculately fitted into the Nexon’s infotainment housing. The tablet has a RAM of 2 GB and an internal memory of 16 GB, which is adequate for such a system. The touch response seems to be smooth and the tab itself is fluid to run. Also, you can use split-screen to use up to two apps at once. For added functionality, you also get physical buttons along with two dials for controlling the system.

Just like every premium infotainment system, this one also supports Android Auto. Sadly Apple Carplay connectivity is not available as this is an android tablet. Other than that, you get Bluetooth connectivity, Google Maps for Navigation, USB, AUX, etc. You can also use voice commands, but the functionality is limited, and you’d have to activate Google voice assistant for it. We’re not sure if it can control the car’s features as a regular infotainment system can, e.g. regulating AC temperature.

Overall, while the system isn’t the same as a Tesla car, it is quite impressive. Android systems are extremely popular due to their simplicity in use and abundance in functionality. The price of this modification is Rs 14,500 and considering the quality of the fit and finish, this doesn’t seem like too much. Also, it was stated in the video that this customisation is also available for the pre-facelift Nexon.
