Tata Tiago is one of the safest hatchbacks that are currently on sale in the country. It boasts of a 4-star Global-NCAP crash test rating. Therefore, Tata patrons and Tiago owners are often seen praising the Tiago’s build quality. Also, post-accident pictures of the Tiago are not tough a sight across social media platforms. We too came across a set of photos recently, which was posted by Raghu Baswapuri. In the images, a Tata Tiago can be seen in an unfortunate condition as it collided with a light pole after running over the divider. This mishap took place on NH-65 around Mumbai, Maharashtra.

With the images, it can be concluded that the Tiago was at high-speeds when the accident took place. As a result, a lot of parts have suffered severe damages. The front bonnet, front bumper, and headlamp assemblies are damaged. Since the car is now resting on its underbelly with all wheels in the air, it might’ve suffered damages to the oil sump, fuel tank, intercooler, and radiator as well. However, these damages are not confirmed as of now. With a keen eye, one can see that airbags too are deployed, which suggest the impact of this collision.

Fortunately, the cabin of this Tiago is intact with no damage to the windscreen, A-pillars or even front doors. Also, the passengers walked out of it without any injuries, whatsoever. The Tiago comes with a slew of safety equipment on board as standard fitment. It gets dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, corner stability control, seat belt reminder, high-speed alert, seat belts with pre-tensioners and load-limiter, ISOFIX child seat mount, and reverse parking camera.

Powering the Tiago is a 1.2L 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated Revotron motor. This engine develops a peak power output of 86 PS and max torque of 113 Nm. The transmission duties can be had performed by either a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT. Prices for the Tiago start at Rs. 4.70 lakh and top out at Rs. 6.74 lakh. The Tiago rivals the likes of Hyundai Santro, Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Maruti Suzuki Celerio, and Hyundai Grand i10.
