Tata Tiago (4-star NCAP) Involved in a High-Speed Crash, Keeps Everyone Safe

This Tata Tiago was involved in a high-speed accident but the airbags didn’t deploy. The passengers were reportedly all safe though.

Airbags should always deploy in any case of collisions but this is an accident scenario of the Tata Tiago where they found the airbags failed to deploy sadly. It is reported that the car was travelling at high speed before having a serious head-on collision with another vehicle. Despite the massive impact, the airbags of the Tiago didn’t deploy that the car’s owner has made a complaint to the officials.

As you can see from the images, the entire front portion of the Tiago has been damaged severely. The bonnet of the car has crumpled up while the side fenders receive some impacts as well. Damages even enter the engine bay of the model.

This is a brand new Tiago so dual airbags come as standard on the model. The airbags sensors located at the front has been damaged by the crash. Luckily, the strong crumple zones have prevented the impact to reach the doors thereby keeping all the passengers safe inside. However, it should be noted that the even the driver was not wearing seatbelts during the go that’s a crucial element for the airbag to deploy but it failed. We thought that there might be some technical or sensor issues in this situation.

The Tata Tiago is an NCAP’s four-star rated hatchback car. In fact, it is one of the safest cars in India under 5 lakh. The standard safety features of the new Tiago include dual airbags, high-speed warning, driver & passenger seatbelt reminder, seatbelt with pre-tensioners & load limiters, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD and Corner Stability Control and Engine Immobiliser.

The Tata Tiago is powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine option that’s good for 86 PS/ 113 Nm of peak torque. Transmission choices for Tiago include a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT. Currently, the Tata Tiago is sitting in the price range of around Rs 4.69 – 6.73 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
