TheTata Tiago is a good-looking hatchback that is on sale at a starting price of Rs. 4.69 lakh. It is loved by the masses for the way it looks and the high safety quotient it offers. The Tiago has even achieved a crash test rating of 4 stars at Global-NCAP’s testbed. The small hatchback has proved of its mettle in various accidents that have been reported across the country. This time around, we have come across a video which shows a Tiago that has crashed with a truck and ripped its roof apart. The video comes from YouTube channel of Prateek Singh. However, the car belongs to Kamal Sharma, who hails from Maharashtra.
Talking of the mishap, it took place when Mr. Sharma was driving his Tata Tiago on a highway in Maharashtra, and it rammed into a truck from behind. At the time of the accident, the owner claims that the speed of the car was around 100 kmph. With the effect of momentum, Tiago could not stop right after hitting the truck. It went a little too much under the truck, therefore messing up with its under-run bars. As a result, Tiago's roof has been completely ripped off, and the tailgate has also lost its position.
There was a passenger in the car along with the driver when the incident took place. While the Tiago absorbed the impact, the reason for the accident is still not known. On an open patch of highway like this, it is un-nerving for a car to slide under a truck. Therefore team IndianAuto.com insists its readers to drive with all of their attention on the road to keep away from such a situation.
The Tiago comes standard with a lot of safety equipment, like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, corner stability control, rear parking sensors, front seat belt reminders, over-speed alerts, and seat belt with pre-tensioners and load limiters. The range-topping trims also get the added safety net of day-night IRVM, front and rear fog lamps, rear parking camera, rear defogger, and speed-dependent door locking mechanism.
