Tata Tiago scored a 4-star crash test rating at Global NCAP, but how does it fare in the real world? Take a look at this Tata Tiago, it rolled over for 80 meters when the driver lost control at a turn.

Tata Tiago is one of the safest budget hatchbacks that are available in the country today. Tata Motors has recently launched a facelifted version of the Tiago in the Indian market. Like the pre-facelift version, the facelifted Tiago also gets a 4-star Global NCAP crash test rating. And, for the very reason, Tiago is highly loved by the Indian audience. Recently, we came across a video on YouTube, where a pre-facelift Tata Tiago can be seen turned turtle with severe damage to its pillars and roof. The car belongs to Debi Prasad Dash, who hails from Odisha. He explains that the accident took place on Kundai Road in Devgarh district of Odisha when the driver lost control over the car while negotiating an unbanked right turn.

At the time of the accident, Mr. Debi Prasad had 3 of his friends along with him in his Tata Tiago. He adds that it was his friend who was driving his Tiago and lost control at the turn. Also, at the time of the accident, the speed of the car would’ve been around 100 kmph, he adds. While the car rolled over for 80 meters, the pillars and the roof of the car suffered some serious damages. However, all four occupants walked out of the car without any injury. Interestingly, the lower half portion of the car has not suffered much damage. Fragile parts like headlamps, tail lamps, and bumpers are all intact.

Therefore, Mr Dash appreciates the strong build quality of the Tata Tiago. Although along with a strong body shell, Tata Tiago also comes with a slew of safety equipment on board. It gets dual front airbags, front seat belt reminders, high-speed alerts, seat belts with pre-tensioner and load limiters, rear parking sensors, and ABS with EBD as standard fitment across the range.
