This Hindustan Ambassador-inspired Maruti Dzire Looks Very Classy

Hindustan Ambassador has got the bragging rights for the car with the longest production run in the history of Indian automotive scene. It was introduced back in 1958 and was sold till 2014. The Ambassador was highly loved by the Indian politicians for its build quality and supple ride. After its discontinuation from the Indian market, Citroen has brought the brand and we could soon see a new Ambassador on roads. But, if we have to look for something as close to Ambassador in terms of its overall silhouette, it is probably the Maruti Dzire. The compact sedan features bubbly panels just like an Ambassador. Therefore, our in-house digital artist Shoeb R. Kalania rendered a child of the two and here it is.

In the video, it can be seen that the artist starts with a regular Maruti Dzire. He then goes on to make numerous or rather, say, uncountable changes to the car. As a result, a Dzire with an uncanny resemblance to Ambassador can be seen at the end. Talking of the changes, it gets a new design for the headlamps, which are round in shape. The front radiator grille is also enlarged and is highlighted with chrome, thereby giving it all the required bling. Lower down the bumper, the stock fog lamp housings have also been replaced with circular units.

This Maruti Dzire is a serious doppleganger to the legendary Hindustan Ambassador.

Important tweaks have been made to the side profile of the car as well. The dual-tone machine-finished alloy wheels have been replaced with steel rims. Also, the rims have been fixed with steel-finished half-wheel caps. A chrome strip on the lower end of the doors has also been added to give it some bling on the sides. On the top of the car, a red beacon has been fixed, since VIP cars need to have this “Lal Batti” in India. However, the red beacon culture has been completely banned and using it can land one in some serious trouble. This amalgam of the Ambassador and Dzire looks wonderful, although, it is highly unlikely that something of this sort would ever go on sale. Nonetheless, a pretty nice idea to pimp-up a Dzire to give it some bureaucratic appeal.
