One of the all-time great motorsport liveries, Gulf Oil has adorned this Hyundai Elite i20 in it's legendary blue and orange theme. Details below

Ah, the Gulf Oil, its light blue and orange theme becoming probably the most iconic motorsport livery of all time, being adorned by cars which have become bonafide legends. The colours originated in 1967 when, it's then vice-president, Grady Davis, decided to enter his own Ford GT 40 as an independent entry at both Daytona and Sebring. Though it is synonymous with the Ford GT 40, its most successful period came in 1971-72 when the Gulf-clad Porsche 917s more or less won every endurance race they participated in, including the Le Mans 24 hours. For the younger generation, the livery became married to the Mclaren F1 GTR and Aston Martin’s Le Mans projects.

Today we have a second-generation Hyundai Elite i20, which is a very all-round car if a bit dull. But this particular i20 has been given a Gulf Oil livery, which as we all know can make anything non-dull. This liveried Elite i20 is part of the ‘Mechanic Mitr’ by Gulf Oil India, where they to various local mechanics and garages in a city and inform them about Gulf’s lubricants and would try to influence them to exclusively stock Gulf brand products.

The second-generation Hyundai Elite i20 was designed in Germany, though was made in India and then exported around the globe. For Europe, it is exported through the CKD route to Turkey where there are reassembled and sold across the continent.
