This Hyundai Pickup Is An Isuzu D-Max V-Cross Rival The Company Must Launch

Hyundai is one of the best carmakers in the world. The manufacturer also holds the position of the second-largest carmaker in India. In the Indian market, the carmaker sells small hatchbacks, sedans, and SUVs. Even, in the international market, the South-Korean giant is known for its (bigger) sedans, SUVs, and even the hatchbacks. It is only the pickup truck segment, where Hyundai is still absent, but the situation might change if the carmaker launches a mid-size pickup truck in the market. Here are a few renderings that give an idea of Hyundai's iteration of a mid-size pickup truck that could rival the likes of Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, Ford Ranger, and Toyota Tacoma.

The pickup truck gets an imposing front-end with a clean design.

The renderings are the courtesy of a Philippine-based designer – Enoch Gabriel Gonzales. The truck has been named as Tarlac since it is the name of the province that Enoch hails from. He has done so as Hyundai has been following the trend of naming its cars on the names of different places from across the world. Talking of the Tarlac, it features a humongous cascading grille at the front, flanked by vertically-split headlamps. The LED DRLs form a Z-shape and will also double up as turn-indicators. The bonnet is high set with well-defined creases, giving it a tough face.

On the sides, there are prominent bi-part shoulder lines with indented wheel arches as seen on the Creta. The truck sits on a set of diamond-cut alloy wheels and it can be seen that the designer has used big brake rotors at both the ends. A neatly integrated side step is also present. The rear facet is a typical pickup affair, but with a lot of flair. The decklid features a chrome embellishment over the Hyundai logo. The tail lamps are infused with P-shaped LED elements. Overall, the truck appears tough and barbarian from every angle.

The rear-end is smartly designed without being too loud or too plain for our liking.

The designer believes that Hyundai’s ute will be a thorough-bred beast on the trails as well. It will use a ladder-frame chassis unlike the monocoque construction seen on the Palisade. Hyundai will also refrain itself from using aluminium in the truck’s construction as the carmaker is betting big on the AHSS (advance High Strength Steel). However, Hyundai plans to launch it in the market, the truck will source its power from a 2.5L 4-cylinder Theta-3 petrol engine, which would come mated to an 8-speed AT.
