You might've come across cars with huge wheels, but this is the first-ever Mahindra XUV500 that rides on a set of gigantic 24-inch alloy wheels.

Mahindra XUV500 was first launched in the country in 2011. Since then, the car has received a couple of cosmetic and mechanical updates to stand tall against the competition. However, during all these years, the XUV500 was either offered with plain-looking 17-inch alloy wheels or 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. These rims were big enough to fill the wheel arches and flashy enough to accentuate the car’s overall appeal. But, they don't go along with the trend of bigger alloy wheels, which is quite fancied by the Indian masses these days. Interestingly, here’s an example of XUV500 that now rides on a set of 24-inch alloy wheels. Yes! You read it right, 24-inch alloy wheels.

We came across this example via a social media platform. It is the very first iteration of the XUV500 that was launched in the year 2011 itself. But, the XUV500 has remained largely the same in its production run of over 10 years. Hence it hardly looks any different from the outgoing model. From the factory, it came with 17-inch alloy wheels, which were quite boring in terms of their design. Nevertheless, it has now been shod with 24-inch rims that are biggest-ever seen on an XUV500, till date. This customisation has been performed by KB Tyres, who are based out of Ludhiana, Punjab.

Sadly, we are not aware of the profile and aspect ratio of the tyres that these rims are draped in. It should be noted that fitting in these rims on XUV500 was not an easy task as the wheel hubs of the XUV500 possess different PCD than the PCD of holes on these mags. Therefore custom spacers have been used to fit them in place. While the complete modification looks quite extravagant and loud, it also makes this XUV500 stand apart from the crowd.

Talking of the XUV500’s mechanical specifications, it is now offered with a 2.2L mHawk diesel engine. The turbocharged oil-burner is capable of producing a peak power output of 155 PS and max torque of 360 Nm. It is available with 2 transmission options – 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT. In the BS-6 era, Mahindra has stopped offering the XUV500 with the optional AWD system.
