This Maruti Swift Goes Through A Tastefully Done Upgrade

For just over 15 years now, the Maruti Swift has been the darling of Indian driving enthusiasts. Upon launch, it paired attractive pricing and fuel-efficient engines with a sublime chassis, which made it an eye-catching option to buy for everyone. In its third-generation in India now, it still manages to outsell all its direct segment rivals. The Swift set the handling benchmark so high that even now only a few have been able to match or surpass it. It also a thriving aftermarket tuning market as keen petrolheads like making their cars make them even better than it is standard. Today we have got one such example.

Whereas you can buy a 127 PS 1.4-litre turbo petrol Swift Sport with stiffer suspension abroad, you can’t get one in India as it would have been a very niche product with low sales. But this particular Maruti Swift we have got through an extensive amount of tuning and mechanical mods to its 1.2-litre engine like a Wolf Moto Performance Stage 1 kit with iridium spark plugs which is fed through a BMC direct air intake. It also gets Automech headers paired to an HKS exhaust endcan. You’ll notice the closer to the ground stance as it now sits on lowered Cobra suspension with race dampers. Though we don’t have any figures, it is a fair assumption that it is making a bit more power than standard.

Visually this Maruti Swift gets a slew of changes as well with new projector matrix headlights and smoked tail lamps, LED projector fog lamps, a Mugen badged grille, Sparco tow straps, Viper roof spoiler, and is coated in a partial camo print while the roof gets a carbon-fibre wrap treatment. The lowered car now sits on some signature 17-inch BBS dished alloys wrapped with wide 215 section low profile tyres. The interior remains the same except now it is coloured in Ferrari Red. Overall, this is a very tastefully done modification job with a host of changes to the internals except only doing a visual overhaul without any performance upgrades.

The stock Maruti Swift is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated 4-pot which churns out 82Ps/113Nm of max power and torque figures in civilian guise and can be paired with a manual or AMT transmission. Prices start from Rs 5.19 lakh for the base LXI trim, going up to Rs 8.02 lakh for the top tier ZXI AGS. All prices are ex-showroom, India respectively.
