The Volkswagen Polo has been on sale in India for a decade now, launching back in 2010. While international markets have got a newer generation model and will get an all-new model in a couple of years, the Polo continues being on sale with mild refreshes and facelifts coming along the way. It got another mild update for 2020  like a new front grille which came with the new BS-VI compliant engines. Today we have got this Polo GT BS-IV version which has gone through quite an overhaul.

The pictures of this extensively modified Volkswagen Polo has been uploaded by machine_headss on Instagram and belongs to Dinesh Sathya DSB from Tamil Nadu. This is a Polo GT from the BS-IV emission era, which means it gets the 1.2-litre four-pot turbo-petrol which makes 105 PS and 175 Nm of peak power and torque. It gets a new body kit that has been inspired by VW’s R-line performance vehicles. At the front, there is a new custom bonnet while the front bumper gets a bigger lower grille and intakes and a splitter has been added as well. There’s new BMW inspired aftermarket matrix headlights. Over to the side, it gets a custom in-house wide body set up which sees the wheel arches getting heavily flared and gets integrated air intakes and outlets. The rear door also gets new air intakes and makes this Polo look like a three-door version. The whole vehicle sits closer to the ground courtesy of Eibach lowering springs and the 17-inch 10.5j GTR pro rims give it a squatter stance. The rear end gets new aftermarket Mercedes style taillights, with the bumper now getting a diffuser and centre-exit dual tailpipes. To finish it off, the Polo gets a new custom chameleon paint scheme along with custom hydro dipping. Unlike the exterior, the interior remains largely stock except for the addition of a new audio setup. Overall, this is one of the most unique Polo modifications that you’ll come across in a while.

To meet the newer and stricter BS-VI emission norms, the Volkswagen Polo older 1.5-litre diesel engines and 1.2-litre TSI engine has been discontinued. It gets a new 3-pot TSI turbo-petrol instead, which makes 110 PS and 175 Nm of peak power and torque figures. It can be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter auto, with the 7-speed DSG resigned to history as well.

Prices for the 2020 Volkswagen Polo range between Rs 6.01 lakh – Rs 9.92 lakh, ex-showroom.
