This Restored Ford Jeep Gets Power From Mahindra Bolero’s Diesel Engine

Jeep cars, as well as other Jeep-inspired vehicles, are well-known for their undeniable reliability and off-road competence. To even make the cars more compatible for off-roading, the owners can go extra miles in customizing their cars. Even though these cars are not as comfortable and well-equipped as other regular cars, these off-road cars still have a special place in the heart of offroad fans. That’s why we never stop seeing new, cooler and bolder modified Jeep cars. Currently, a Youtube user called YoVlogs has introduced us to a good-looking restored Ford GPW.

The stock version of the car is a Ford GPW 1946 which is a left-hand drive vehicle. Apparently, the car has gone through a thorough restoration to make it look the way it does now. First of all, the vintage model is repainted in a beige colour across the body. The steel wheel also gets similar treatment.

Unlike other modified cars which were intended to look as different from the original version as possible, this car is done with a strong focus on the restoration aspect. With that in mind, the team has tried to keep the car look as close to the stock version as possible. From the front end, you can see it is the similar vertical slate with round headlights. It retains the soft top structure. Even the new tyres are similar to the stock units. To the rear end, it is the same jerry can, rear-door-mounted spare wheels featured on the original design.

The interior gets a similar treatment as the exterior with the new beige paint scheme. Even so, the structure and design of the interior are kept as much as possible. The new beige cream colour only makes space look brighter and fresher. In addition, to make a car look newer, all the car seats get new black upholstery. The Ford GPW gets a side-facing bench seat along with a front-facing rear bench seat, which is carried over from the original design.

While the cosmetic design is kept quite intact, the mechanical part of the car has seen some significant updates. One of which is the replacement of a new diesel engine which is used on the Mahindra Bolero. The original GPW was a 4x4-drive model. However, it is not revealed if the mechanic overhaul does any change to the drive system. It is noted that the low-ration gearbox is no longer available inside the cabin. As revealed by the owner of the car, it took him 8 months to finish the restoration. The cost of the restoration project, according to the owner, is around Rs 3-3.5 lakh.
