Coupe has a signature design that never goes out of style. It elegant and classy look has always been adored and cherished. In the past few years, we have seen this trend of integrating the sleek look of a coupe into various body types as a way to enhance the charm of the car design. Apart from the traditional two-door low-slung models, the coupe-ish styling has made to it to hatchbacks, sedans and even SUVs. BMW is the first carmaker to try the unlikely combination of coupes and SUVs with the launch of the BMW X6. At first, BMW X6 has countered controversial responses from the critics and car enthusiasts. Still, the BMW X6 and its the coupe-ish SUV design offer a fresh approach to make SUVs. Following BMW, other preeminent luxury car brands have made their own coupe SUVs and received growing attention in the market.

At the moment, there are a couple of these high-end SUV models with the coupe-ish design that have entered our market. In the following, IndianAuto will give the list of all coupe SUV cars in India.

1. BMW X6

Price: Rs 90.90 Lakh

Let’s start off with the BMW X6 – the first car of this kind. First launched in 2007, BMW X6 was based on BMW’s most popular SUV, X5. By chopping off the rear roof, BMW has created a brand new and unique styling for its new SUV. Being a pioneer is never easy. In the beginning, the radical design of the BMW X6 polarized the automotive world. While many loved the idea, some found it obscure. Times prove that BMW was ahead of time. The idea of coupe SUV has caught on quickly and other car brands started to follow BMW and create their own versions of the coupe SUV.

BMW X6 is available in the Indian market in two variants, Xdrive40i M Sport and xDrive40i xLine. Both versions come available at the same price of Rs 96.90 lakh. The M Sport is the performance version of the X6. Under the hood, BMW X6 is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine what unleashes a whopping maximum power of 335 BHP and top power of 450 Nm. 

2. Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe

Price: Rs 62.70 - 76.70 Lakh

If the BMW X6 is the first model to come with coupe SUV design, Mercedes Benz is the one who takes the design to its prime with the GLC Coupe.

Mercedes Benz GLC Coupe entered the market almost one decade after the BMW X6. However, it got the timing right. Entered the market in 2015 when the SUV segment started to grow in terms of popularity, the Mercedes Benz GLC Coupe has contributed greatly to promote the coupe-ish SUV concept in the automotive market.

Last year, Mercedes Benz has launched the GLC Coupe facelift at the price of Rs 62.70 lakh. Upon its arrival, the facelift Mercedes Benz GLC Coupe came into two variants, GLC 300 and GLC 300d. Unfortunately, there is no AMG variant to be available on the range.

After receiving the facelift, GLC Coupe will be available with BSVI-compliant petrol and diesel engine options. On the petrol range, the 2.0-litre turbo unit can make 252 BHP and 350 Nm. The diesel range is available two options, a 2.0-litre diesel (190 PS/400 Nm) and a 3.0-litre diesel engine (265 PS/620 Nm). The 8-speed automatic gearbox is available as standard across the range. The GLC Coupe is offered with 4MATIC AWD system as standard.

3. BMW X4

Price: Rs 62.40 - 68.90 Lakh

After the success of the X6, BMW has launched the successor of the X6 named X4. Applying the same coupe-ish design, BMW X4 was introduced as the smaller version of the X6 and took on other new rivals emerging in the market.

Last year, the BMW X4 has finally made it to the India shore. The SUV is available with M Sport variants only. In our market, the SUV is available with three choices of engines including 2.0-litre petrol, a 2.0-litre diesel and a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder diesel engine. The power outputs of these engines are rated at 252 PS/350 Nm, 190 PS/400 Nm, 265 PS/620 Nm, respectively. All of these engines are mated to an 8-speed AT gearbox.

Being offered with M Sport package as standard, the BMW X4 comes with a sporty exterior and interior design along with performance-oriented mechanical settings. Moreover, it is available with BMW xDrive 4WD system, adaptive suspension and performance control. Compared to the more affordable X3, the X4 can give you a sleeker design with impressive driving dynamics and a better-equipped interior.

4. Porsche Cayenne Coupe

Price: Rs 1.31 - 1.98 Crore

Porsche Cayenne was launched in 2002 as the only SUV model on Porsche’s line-up. Back then, Porsche was mostly famous for its range of sleek sports cars only. Fortunately, this SUV is well received by the car enthusiast and remains on sale until now. Fast forward to 2019, Porsche has launched the new variant of the Cayenne SUV called Cayenne Coupe. This special version swaps the regular roofline with a sloped coupe-ish design, which emphasizes the sportiness of the model. Compared to the Cayenne, the Coupe version has a lower roofline and thinner A-pillar. Moreover, the Cayenne Coupe also sports a more muscular design with revised door and fenders.

Porsche Cayenne Coupe three-quarter

Porsche Cayenne Coupe is available in our market in two variants, Standard and Turbo. These variants are priced at Rs 1.31 crore and 1.98 Crore, respectively. The version on sale in our market is identical to the European-spec model.

The standard variant of Porsche Cayenne Coupe is powered by a V6 engine while the Turbo variant makes use of the V8 engine. While the V6 engine is capable of belting out 340 BHP, the twin-turbo V8 can unleash a top power of 550 BHP. Both of these engines come with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

5. Lamborghini Urus       

Price: Rs 3.10 Crore

Similar to the Porsche Cayenne, the Lamborghini Urus also marks Lamborghini’s entrance to the SUV segment. With its first SUV, the sports car manufacturer smartly goes with the Coupe-ish styling that reconciles the utility character and the sporty nature of the car. 

The SUV from Porsche is built on the MLB platform which can be seen on other performance-oriented SUVs of Volkswagen Groupe like Audi Q7, Porche Cayenne, and Bentley Bentayga.

Under the hood, the sporty SUV is powered by a front-mounted 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine that puts out 650 PS of maximum power and 850 Nm of top torque. This engine is paired with 8-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain setting allows the Urus to sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.6 seconds and reach the top speed of 305 kmph.
