Read here to know of the major distinctions between the upcoming Hyundai Alcazar and the Creta, in respect to their designs, prior to the former's unveil on April 6.

Hyundai has just released the official sketches of its new 7-seater SUV, the Alcazar. The new SUV will be based on the same platform as the Creta, to whom it will look similar, but will be longer to accommodate the third row of seats. This means the design aft of the C-pillar is completely new and gets a boxier design to maximize cabin space. Today we look at the 5 biggest design differences between the Alcazar and the Creta.

Tailgate

Hyundai has completely redesigned the tailgate for the new Alcazar. Instead of the light bar connecting the split tail lamps of the Creta, the Alcazar’s tail lamps are connected by what seems like a chrome strip. The number plate now sits higher up on the tailgate while the rear bumper is taller with a more prominent faux skid plate.

Tail Lamps

Along with the tailgate, the most visible change between the Hyundai Creta and the Alcazar are the new wider and shorter wraparound tail lamps. It is a more conventional design than the split set-up ones on the Creta. While the Creta has had mixed opinions about its styling, particularly about its head and tail lamps, the Alcazar’s tail lamps feature a mature design that suits the rear-end.

Rear Quarter Area

The biggest change between the upcoming Hyundai Alcazar and the Creta is the longer length of the former for an extra row of seats. The change in length is distinctly visible post the C-pillar, where the Alcazar’s rear overhangs come up as longer ones. The rear quarter glass is also larger in the Alcazar, with the entire rear quarter now having a more upright and boxy design compared to the Creta.

Wheels

Hyundai’s official sketches revealed that the Alcazar will come with a new and different alloy wheel design. The dual-tone alloys also seem to be a size larger than the Creta, possibly at 18-inches and give the upcoming Alcazar a better stance. Unlike its direct competitors the Tata Safari and Harrier, which come with the same alloy design but different sizes, the Alcazar’s unique design makes it easily distinguishable from the Creta.

Front Grille

Although the revealed sketches didn’t show the front profile of the Alcazar, we can confirm that the 7-seater SUV will come with a new grille design, as seen on spy shots before. Unlike the Creta’s slatted design, the Alcazar will get a studded pattern instead. Other changes to the front-end may include a redesigned bumper as well.

These were the most distinct differences between the Hyundai Alcazar and the Creta, and we will have more details once the former globally debuts on April 6, 2021.
