Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster are the two most popular large SUVs offered in the Indian market. Both SUVs have known for their massive looks, feature-loaded cabin and capabilities. To check the acceleration capabilities of Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster, here’s a recent drag race video between both SUVs. We request out reads that do not conduct such races on public roads. For such races, always lookout for a closed road and take necessary precautions.

This drag race video has been uploaded by a YouTube channel named Gaadiwaadi. The Toyota Fortuner you see here is the new facelift model of the SUV, which is powered by a 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, which develops 201bhp of power and 500 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes paired with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. On the other hand, the MG Gloster is propelled by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder twin-turbo diesel mill, which is capable of shredding out power and torque outputs of 215bhp and 480 Nm. Transmission duties are done by an 8-speed AT.

Talking about the drag race, in total, the Youtuber conducted three rounds. In the first round, the Toyota Fortuner effortlessly takes the lead and wins the race by a huge margin. For the second round, the drivers of both SUVs were changed, but the results remain the same. However, the distance between both SUVs was not as huge as the first round. In the last attempt, Toyota SUV again wins the race, but by a very slight margin. Toyota Fortuner wins all three rounds of the drag race. On paper, both SUVs are almost equally powerful, but the MG SUV is heavier than Toyota Fortuner. Moreover, MG Gloster has much bigger dimensions. In the Indian market, the Toyota Fortuner is offered at a starting price of Rs 30.34 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the MG Gloster is retailed at an introductory price of Rs 29.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base variant.
