Drag races have now got quite popular among the car enthusiasts in India. People around the country conduct such races to measure the capabilities of their car. Many people believe that cars with bigger powertrains are nimble on the roads, but that’s not always correct because high-end performance cars are propelled by small motors and are tuned by the carmakers to produce massive power and torque outputs. Of course, smaller vehicles also benefit from a lower kerb weight. To demonstrate this in real life, here's a drag race between pre-facelift Hyundai Verna and Toyota Innova Crysta AT. The Hyundai Verna is powered by a 1.6-litre diesel mill, while the Innova Crysta automatic is propelled by a 2.8-litre oil burner. Watch the video embedded below to know the amazing results.

As one can see in the video that there are very few cars on the highway, but always remember doing such drag races on public roads are illegal. These races should be done in a closed environment to ensure the utmost safety. As one can see in the video that in the first round the Hyundai sedan accelerate ahead of the Toyota MPV, and wins the race by a huge margin. A similar result can be seen in the second round too. The Hyundai Verna 1.6-litre diesel is the most potent car in its segment. It puts out 126bhp of power and 260 Nm of peak torque. It comes paired with a 6-speed MT, which allows a driver to control the initial launch of the car in a much better way. On the other hand, the Toyota Innova Crysta’s diesel powertrain develops power and torque outputs of 172bhp and 360 Nm. The transmission duties are done by an automatic gearbox. The main reason behind the winning of Hyundai Verna is its lighter kerb weight. The Toyota MPV weighs around 1,900 kg, while the Hyundai Verna weighs close to 1,200. There’s a difference of 700 kg between both the cars.
