Upcoming Honda ZR-V imagined digitally

Recently, it was revealed that Honda has applied for the trademark of a new car name - ‘ZR-V’ - for the Indian auto market. The new car is expected to be a small SUV, judging by the nomenclature. No details have been confirmed yet, but people are already excited with anticipation. Kleber Silva, a Brazillian artist, has even created his own digital version of the upcoming Honda SUV.

According to these images, the new Honda ZR-V will have a sharp yet classy look. The front end is inspired heavily by the pre-facelift model (2016 to 2019) of the third-generation Honda Pilot. At the side, we see extremely large gunmetal alloy wheels with a 10-spoke design.  The silhouette of the car resembles the Changan Uni-T, which was the base car for this rendered model. Even the dual-tone paint scheme resembles that of the Changan SUV, especially the orange A-pillar and roof. You also get split roof-mounted spoiler. The similarities continue towards the rear, which is virtually untouched except for the new, blue paint scheme.

Even though we love the triangular quad-exhaust tips and the rear diffuser, we have to admit that this concept image looks quite farfetched. The production-spec Honda ZR-V would surely look quite different from the model showcased here. We’d have to wait for the spy pictures to emerge for more accurate renderings. That said, we actually quite like the sporty design of this one!

Although there are no details about the Honda ZR-V, we speculate that this might be a new compact SUV (longer than 4 metres). This would put it as a competitor to the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Jeep Compass, Renault Captur, and Nissan Kicks. This segment, although quite crowded, has a huge customer base. Sadly, the Japanese carmaker had previously overlooked this segment, and is now in dire need of a new product here. According to reports, a new sub-4-metre Honda SUV is also in the making, but as it is already occupied by the WR-V, the company might not be in a rush to introduce another crossover in that space. Thus, a new Seltos-rival seems like the most likely option here.
