Upcoming Maruti Cars India - From XL5 To Futuro-e

Maruti XL5

Being the Nexa version of the new Maruti Wagon R, the Maruti XL5 is expected to borrow the powertrains and the transmission options from its sibling. Accordingly, the XL5 will receive its power from a BSVI 1.2-litre 4-cylinder K-Series BS6 which can deliver 77 BHP against 113 Nm and is coupled with a five-speed MT/AMT unit. Some of the outstanding features of the upcoming Maruti XL5 will include projector headlights with LED DRLs, 15-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights, etc. The vehicle will also be equipped with more upmarket seat coverings, automatic climate control and start/stop push button.

The new XL5 has been spotted testing on Indian roads a few times. The Maruti XL5 is anticipated to be priced in the range from INR 5 lakh to INR 6.5 lakh*.

Maruti S-Cross Petrol

The next upcoming Maruti car in India is the S-Cross Petrol with a BS6 motor. The new SUV will receive its power from a 1.5-litre K-Series naturally aspirated gasoline burner which can deliver 105 PS against 138 Nm and is mated to a standard 5-speed MT unit and an optional 4-speed torque converter. The S-Cross will also come with a mild-hybrid technology on the automatic version.

Maruti Ignis Facelift

The Maruti Ignis facelift is offered with a BSVI-compliant 1.2-litre gasoline burner which can deliver 83 PS against 113 Nm and is mated to a 5-speed MT/AMT transmission. In terms of the cosmetic updates, the new Ignis is equipped with an S-Presso-inspired grille. a tweaked bumper and an updated foglight housing. The updated Ignis also comes with a new 7-inch SmartPlay studio system and some standard features including rear parking sensors, co-driver seatbelt reminder, high-speed warning system, etc. The facelifted Maruti Ignis is priced in the range from INR 4.89 lakh to INR 7.19 lakh.

Maruti Swift Hybrid

The last one in the list of upcoming Maruti cars in India 2020 is the Maruti Swift Hybrid. The vehicle comes with a modern 48V mild-hybrid system which is mated to the old 1.2-litre K12C petrol engine, which helps increase the power output from 91 PS against 118 Nm to 105 PS against 148 Nm. The hybrid unit includes an advanced 48V lithium-ion battery, a 48V-12V converter and an integrated starter generator. The system is believed to help reduce the emission level with no additional eco infrastructure or system. The Maruti Swift Hybrid has been showcased at Auto Expo 2020.

Maruti Wagon R EV

The Maruti Wagon R EV has been spied several times before on Indian roads for the purpose of data collection, which can help the company assess whether the vehicle can tackle the different road conditions and weather in the county. The Indian largest automaker is also developing a Lithium-ion battery plant to manufacture the best possible power sources for the Wagon R EV.

Suzuki Jimny

Since Maruti Suzuki discontinued the Gypsy in 2018, the Suzuki Jimny, the Gypsy substitute, has been among the most highly anticipated off-roaders in India. Although the three-door version of the Maruti Jimny has been confirmed not to come to India, whether the conventional 5-door version of the SUV will be introduced to India or not remains to be seen. Once launched in India, the off-roader is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre K-Series petrol motor which can deliver 105 PS against 138 Nm.

Maruti Futuro-e

The last one in the list of the upcoming Maruti cars in India is the Maruti Futuro-e. Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020, the Future-e is designed to look like a coupe with some sharp lines which stretches across the whole body of the vehicle. The production model of the Maruti Futuro-e is expected to be launched in 2022 and will compete against the Hyundai Creta.

Maruti S-Presso VXI Opt CNG & Maruti S-Presso VXI CNG [Launched]

Maruti Suzuki has launched the top-spec Maruti S-Presso VXI Opt CNG variant of the Maruti S-Presso later this month. This variant is powered by a 1.0-litre K10B gasoline burner which can deliver a maximum power of 67 BHP against 90 Nm. The transmission duties are undertaken by a 5-speed MT gearbox. 

Also launched on the same date as the VXI Opt CNG, the VXI CNG which is positioned lower than its sibling keeps under its hood the same motor. With a lower price of INR 4.74 lakh, the VXI CNG variant is a little bit less well-equipped than its VXI Opt CNG counterpart.

Maruti Vitara Brezza Facelift [Launched]

The facelifted Vitara Brezza is powered by a new BSVI 1.5-litre 4-cyl gasoline burner with mild-hybrid tech AS which also serves as the power source for the new XL6, Ciaz and Ertiga. In the other models, the motor produces 105 PS against 138 Nm. Expect that the motor on the new Vitara Brezza will be kept intact in terms of the figure. The new compact SUV comes with a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed MT unit. The diesel motor might be introduced later if the demand arises.

Cosmetic alterations consist of an updated front end which comes with an updated grille, new headlights and a redesigned bumper. The lighting system features LED elements whereas the bumper accommodates a faux skid plate. The side profile is kept almost intact in comparison with the previous version except for dual-tone alloy rims. The rear end also comes with some aesthetic upgrades including a new faux skid plate and upgraded taillights. In terms of the interior, the refreshed version of the Vitara Brezza will be equipped with Maruti Suzuki’s Clarion-sourced Smartplay Studio infotainment unit and new fresh seat coverings.

The facelifted Vitara Brezza facelift is likely to be priced at almost the same price range as the existing version, from INR 7.34 lakh to INR 11.4 lakh*. At this price range, it competes against the Ford EcoSport, the Mahindra XUV300, the Hyundai Venue, the Tata Nexon and the upcoming Kia QYI and Renault HBC.
