Here are full details on upcoming Maruti cars in India in 2020, including Vitara Brezza facelift, Swift Hybrid, S-Cross Petrol, Ertiga Sport and Ignis facelift

The new year 2020 has begun with upcoming Auto Expo 2020 where many automakers introduce their new models. Maruti Suzuki, the Indian largest carmaker, will also launch quite a few new models in the country in 2020. Maruti Vitara Brezza Facelift

  • Expected launch date: February 6, 2020

The facelifted Vitara Brezza is going to be powered by a new BSVI 1.5-litre 4-cyl gasoline burner with mild-hybrid tech AS which also serves as the power source for the new XL6, Ciaz and Ertiga. In the other models, the motor produces 105 PS against 138 Nm. Expect that the motor on the new Vitara Brezza will be kept intact in terms of the figure. The new compact SUV is expected to be equipped with a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed MT unit. The diesel motor might be introduced later if the demand arises.

The SUV has been revealed at the Auto Expo before its launch tomorrow. Cosmetic alterations consist of an updated front end which comes with an updated grille, new headlights and a redesigned bumper. The lighting system features LED elements whereas the bumper accommodates a faux skid plate. The side profile is kept almost intact in comparison with the previous version except for dual-tone alloy rims. The facelifted Vitara Brezza facelift is likely to be priced at almost the same price range as the existing version, from INR 7.63 lakh to INR 10.37 lakh*. At this price range it will compete against the Ford EcoSport, the Mahindra XUV300, the Hyundai Venue, the Tata Nexon and the upcoming Kia QYI and Renault HBC.

Maruti XL5

  • Expected launch date: February 10, 2020

Being the Nexa version of the new Maruti Wagon R, the Maruti XL5 is expected to borrow the powertrains and the transmission options from its sibling. Accordingly, the XL5 will receive its power from a BSVI 1.2-litre 4-cylinder K-Series BS6 which can deliver 77 BHP against 113 Nm and is coupled with a five-speed MT/AMT unit. Some of the outstanding features of the upcoming Maruti XL5 will include projector headlights with LED DRLs, 15-icnh alloy wheels, LED taillights. The vehicle will also be equipped with more upmarket seat coverings, automatic climate control and start/stop push button.

The new XL5 has been spotted testing on Indian roads a few times. The Maruti XL5 is anticipated to be priced in the range from INR 5 lakh to INR 6.5 lakh*.

Maruti S-Presso VXI Opt CNG

  • Expected launch date: February 20, 2020

Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the top-spec Maruti S-Presso VXI Opt CNG variant of the Maruti S-Presso later this month. This variant is powered by a 1.0-litre K10B gasoline burner which can deliver a maximum power of 67 BHP against 90 Nm. The transmission duties are undertaken by a 5-speed MT gearbox. This CNG version has a claimed fuel mileage of 21.7 kmpl. The vehicle is expected to be priced at INR 4.8 lakh*.

Maruti S-Presso VXI CNG

  • Expected launch date: February 20, 2020

Also expected to be launched on the same date as the VXI Opt CNG, the VXI CNG which is positioned lower than its sibling keeps under its hood the same motor. The ARAI-certified fuel mileage of the vehicle is also claimed to be 21.7 kmpl. With a lower price of INR 4.74 lakh, the VXI CNG variant will be a little bit less well-equipped than its VXI Opt CNG counterpart.

Maruti Ignis Facelift

  • Expected launch date: February 20, 2020

The Maruti Ignis facelift will be offered with a BSVI-compliant 1.2-litre gasoline burner which can deliver 83 PS against 113 Nm and is mated to a 5-speed MT/AMT transmission. In terms of the cosmetic updates, the new Ignis will be equipped with an S-Presso-inspired grille and a tweaked bumper. The updated Ignis will also come with some standard features including rear parking sensors, co-driver seatbelt reminder, high-speed warning system, etc. It is expected to be priced at a higher range than the current Ignis, with a starting price of INR 5 lakh*.

Maruti Ertiga Sport

  • Expected launch date: March 30, 2020

The Maruti Ertiga Sport will be launched as the top-end variant of the Ertiga lineup. The new vehicle will come with a new six-seat layout with individual captain middle seats where the most important occupants can sit and enjoy a comfortable experience, thanks to the additional comfort and space along with top-notch features like faux leather seats. The new Ertiga Sport will receive its power from a brand-new BS6 gasoline burner motor with a maximum power of 103 BHP against 138 Nm. A diesel motor is not expected to serve as the power source for the MPV since Maruti Suzuki has announced that it will shelve the diesel motor, given the fact that the BSVI emission standards are coming near. As regards the design alterations, the Ertiga Sport is expected to feature a restyled front and rear bumper, which will make the Ertiga Sport look much sportier. With all of these upgrades, the Ertiga Sport will be priced by INR 50,000 more than the standard Ertiga.

Maruti Swift Hybrid

  • Expected launch date: December 15, 2020

The last one in the list of upcoming Maruti cars in India 2020 is the Maruti Swift Hybrid. The vehicle comes with a modern 48V mild-hybrid system which is mated to the old 1.2-litre K12C petrol engine, which helps increase the power output from 91 PS against 118 Nm to 105 PS against 148 Nm. The hybrid unit includes an advanced 48V lithium-ion battery, a 48V-12V converter and an integrated starter generator. The system is believed to help reduce the emission level with no additional eco infrastructure or system. The Maruti Swift Hybrid has been showcased at Auto Expo 2020.
