Upcoming Skoda Kushaq Will Get A Smaller Sunroof Compared To Rivals

Skoda globally unveiled the all-new Kushaq in India recently, with the automaker confirming that it will go on sale in July with prices being revealed a month earlier in June. The Kushaq is the first vehicle that will be based on the VW Group’s new MQB-A0-IN Platform with 95% of the parts to be produced locally in India. Upon launch, the Kushaq will compete in the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos in the compact SUV segment. Today we take a look at the upcoming Kushaq’s sunroof.

Sunroofs have become an increasingly important and feature for consumers to look at upon buying a new vehicle. Previously only found in luxury vehicles, sunroofs have become more common in reasonably priced vehicles. The Skoda Kushaq comes with a sunroof as well, but it covers only the front passengers unlike the bigger panoramic version of its rival the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier and the MG Hector. But given that the Kushaq may be priced a bit cheaper than them, it sounds like a worthy sacrifice.

In terms of the overall design, The Skoda Kushaq is a looker with it retaining most of the Vision IN concept’s visual cues. Its signature Skoda butterfly grille is flanked by split-LED headlights which look sleek. The overall proportions of the Kushaq are spot on with skid plates on the front and rear, contrast body cladding and crisp line giving the Skoda a no-nonsense look.

Coming to the interior, the Skoda Kushaq’s dashboard gets a layered effect with gloss black trims on the dual-tone interior and a unique two-spoke steering wheel. It gets features like a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with integrated Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats, connected car tech, cruise control, wireless charging and more.

The Skoda Kushaq will be available with two powertrain choices, both petrol. There’s a 1-litre TSI three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine which also powers the Rapid sedan and the VW Polo. It makes 115 PS and 175 Nm of peak power and torque. The other option is a 1.5-litre turbo petrol that is shared with the VW T-Roc which makes peak power and torque of 150 PS and 250 Nm, respectively. Gearbox options include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic and a 7-speed DSG automatic.
