A used MG Hector that has clocked 100 km on the odo is available for sale online at 23 lakh, thereby being costlier than even a brand new car

MG Hector was launched on June 27. The new SUV has attracted a massive following and an impressive number of bookings within a month. Recently, MG Motors confirmed that the company will stop receiving bookings for the new MG Hector owing to the unexpectedly overwhelming demand. With the recent production capacity, the British carmaker could not meet the increasing demand. By now, the first Hectors were delivered to buyers. On the other hand, some customers might have to wait up to 7 months to receive their cars. To fill the void when the MG Hector goes absent from the market, some have started to resell their delivered MG Hector. One MG Hector which has been driven for just 100 km is on sale on a used car listing site for Rs 23 lakh.

MG Hector is now available at the secondhand car market

The vehicle is of the top-spec variant, Sharp, and is equipped with a diesel engine. This variant is armed with many premium features including a panoramic sunroof, advanced infotainment system and leatherette seats. This MG Hector is a white-coloured version. It looks brand new with no registration number in sight. It also means that the second owner could become a legal first owner of this Hector. The recent owner claimed that the distance travelled stands at around 100 km.

The price of a new Hector Sharp diesel is sealed at 16.88 lakh in Kerala where the car was sold. With taxes added, it could go up to Rs 20.35 lakh. What comes across as most shocking is that this used car will be sold for Rs 23 lakh which is even higher than the official price and the additional cost altogether. The unusually high price could be considered an extra cost of cutting off the waiting. It is not confirmed when the MG Motors will reopen booking for the Hector. Even when the booking is resumed, customers might have to wait for some other months until the car is delivered. Customers who can’t wait that long can find this offer the easy way out. Plus, when the booking for MG Hector has opened again, probably, the price will no longer remain at the introductory level. Therefore, in case you're in a hurry to get your hands on the Hector, the high resale price is somewhat justifiable.

MG Hector is offered with two petrol and one diesel engine, namely 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine (143 PS/250 Nm), 1.5-liter hybrid petrol engine (143 PS/250 Nm) and a 2.0-litre diesel (170 PS/350 Nm). Six-speed manual transmission is available across the range. The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine comes with an optional CVT automatic gearbox.
