Waiting Period for 2020 Mahindra Thar Extends To 3 Months

The new Mahindra Thar has received overwhelming initial responses from Indian customers. The waiting period of the Mahindra Thar is reported to increase to 3 months.

Earlier this month, Mahindra finally launched the much-anticipated 2020 Mahindra Thar. The new-gen model is well-received by car enthusiasts. Currently, it is confirmed that the homegrown car manufacturer has garnered over 15,000 bookings for the new Thar in 15 days.

As of now, Mahindra only provides the new Thar in 18 cities only. The deliveries of the new Thar is scheduled to start on the first day of November. However, it is currently reported that the waiting period for the Mahindra Thar could be extended to 3 months due to the overwhelming responses from the customers. A recent buyer of the Mahindra Thar was promised to receive his car on January 19, 2021.

2020 Mahindra Thar is available in two lines, AX and LX. While the AX variants (AX and AX Opt) are adventure-oriented, the top-spec LX variant focuses on the lifestyle aspect. On the AX, the Mahindra Thar sports side-facing seats, which allows the car to accommodate 6 occupants. On the other hand, the LX variant with a front-facing rear seat setting has a standard seating capacity of 4 seats.

After the generation upgrade, Mahindra Thar has evolved from a simple off-roader to a fully-equipped lifestyle vehicle. It is now offered with various goodies including a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay system as well as Adventure Statistic Display, BlueSense connectivity system, automatic climate system, cruise control, control-mounted steering wheel, height and lumbar adjustable driver seat, and more.

Customers of Mahindra Thar will have to wait up to 3 months until the deliveries

Mahindra Thar is offered with two choices of engines. It can be powered by either a 2.2-litre four-cylinder mHawk turbo diesel engine or a 2.0-litre mStallion four-cylinder turbocharged petrol TGDi engine. While the former produces a maximum power of 130 PS and top power of 300 Nm, the later belts out 150 PS of peak power and 300 Nm (MT)/320 Nm (AT) of torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox is offered as standard while a 6-speed automatic is available as an option.
