Jeep is an American car brand renowned for producing some of the most capable SUVs in the world. Even the brand’s smallest offering – Jeep Renegade, can pull some serious action when the going gets tough. However, in the Indian market, the brand’s most-affordable product is the Compass. It is has been recently updated with a slew of changes without losing any of its capabilities. The snow seems to be fresh, and thus, a loss of traction is expected in such a situation. However, this pre-facelift Jeep Compass is managing to pull itself up the hill without breaking a sweat, even in a slippery situation. The pre-facelift Jeep Compass was offered with a capable AWD system but with the diesel engine only. The 2.0L oil burner was capable of putting out 173 PS of peak power and 350 Nm of max torque. As a result, the Jeep Compass packs in enough grunt to pull itself out of a tricky situation with ease.

Now, the American carmaker has launched the facelifted Jeep Compass in the Indian market. It gets a reworked front fascia with new headlamps, grille and bumper. Also, the alloy wheels are redesigned units. The rear facet gets subtle yet noticeable updates too. On the inside, the Compass facelift gets an all-new dashboard design with a fully-floating 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. The instrument cluster is also a full-digital unit now and uses a 10.25-inch display.

Mechanical specifications, however, remains the same as the pre-facelift model. The Jeep Compass continues to come with two engine options – 1.4L turbo-petrol and 2.0L turbo-diesel. The 1.4L MultiAir engine develops 162 PS of peak power and 250 Nm of max torque. The oil burner, on the other hand, churns out 173 PS against 350 Nm. Transmission options on the facelifted Jeep Compass include a 6-speed, 7-speed DCT, and a 9-speed automatic. The option of an AWD layout is only available in the diesel variants. With prices starting at Rs. 16.99 lakh and topping out at Rs. 28.29 lakh, the Jeep Compass facelift competes against the likes of Hyundai Tucson, Tata Harrier, and MG Hector.
