The highly-anticipated new Mahindra Thar is expected to be launched on October 2. The off-roader has been unveiled last month and has since then attracted enthusiasts’ attention.  Recently, a video which shows the 2020 Mahindra Thar impressively jump on a ramp to an incredible height has been released, which clearly shows its excellent off-road capabilities. 

The suspension appears to have been bottomed out, which judge the noise. The driver managed to keep things under control and recovered, which shows the new Thar’s composure and his skills. The jump has been well recorded by a photographer standing by the side. Nevertheless, the approach to the ramp was not implemented as well as the Thar could do.

The second-gen Mahindra Thar will feature a wide array of alterations against the outgoing model. While the new SUV will get a new evolutionary exterior, the interior will experience a thorough update regarding the convenience, comfort and safety; thereby making the Thar become a lifestyle off-roader. A range of modification options and accessories will also be offered for the SUV.

Specifically, the Mahindra Thar will be equipped with halogen headlights with LED DRLs, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, powered air conditioner, autocruise, a digital MID in the instrument cluster and steering-mounted controls. Furthermore, the SUV also comes with a washable cabin and removable roof panels. The new Thar will be available with both 4-seater and 6-seater configurations, depending on the variants. In terms of safety, the Mahindra Thar will get dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, front seatbelt reminder and rear parking sensors.

The new Mahindra Thar will receive its power from two engine options. The first one is a new 2.0-litre turbo gasoline burner which can generate 150 PS against 300 Nm for the manual version and 300 Nm against 320 Nm for the automatic version. The second one is a 2.2-litre oil unit which can deliver 130 PS against 300 Nm. The transmission duties will be undertaken by a standard 6-speed MT and an optional 6-speed AT. The 4WD system will be standard across all the variants.

The new Mahindra Thar is expected to be priced from INR 9.98 lakh to INR 13 lakh (ex-showroom). It will directly compete against the new Force Gurkha and other compact SUVs such as the Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster, Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.
