Watch Tata Hexa Crossing Rivers Like A Pro [VIDEO]

Tata Hexa was launched in January 2017 as the flagship offering from the Indian carmaker. Sadly, though, the car is not on sale anymore as it wasn't upgraded to meet BSVI emission norms. Thankfully, it is expected to make its way back to the showroom floors with a BSVI compliant heart later this year. The Hexa is a nice blend of MPV and SUV credentials. It offers a pliant ride and spacious cabin like an MPV, while it comes loaded with all the weapons one requires in the aresenal to tackle a road less travelled. Here are a few videos showcasing the off-road capabilities of the Hexa.

The videos were uploaded on YouTube by Raaghav Munavalli on his channel. In the video, the SUV can be seen crossing rivers without much difficulty. The 4X4 variant of the Hexa came equipped with a 2.2L turbocharged diesel engine that produced 156 PS of peak power and 400 Nm of maximum torque. It the latter that helps the car gain momentum in such a situation. Also, the Hexa has water wading depth of 400 mm, which, again, works in its favour while it fords a river.

Sending the torque to the right tyre is very much important on a loose surface. To do this job, Hexa has an electronically controlled and adaptive 4X4 system from Borg Warner. It also offers the convenience of a torque-on-demand feature, which lets the twisting force flow to the wheel with higher traction. The system is controlled by a rotary knob that offers 4 driving modes in total.

A river bed is generally rocky and hard, but a mud-puddle or a pond has a muddy and soft bed. Therefore the ground clearance also plays an important role in such terrains. The Hexa excels on this note as well. It sits 200 mm above the ground. It also boasts of a best-in-class break-over angle of 22 degrees. Talking of the suspension, it gets independent front suspension with double-wishbones and a multi-link setup with a rigid axle at the rear. With so much on its side, Hexa is one of the most underrated and capable SUVs we've had in the segment.
