How Large Kia Seltos Boot Space Actually Is?

Launched last year as the first Kia model in the Indian market, the Kia Seltos has quickly become a huge commercial success for the South Korean carmaker. With an attractive look and pricing, the compact SUV from Kia is now regarded among the best options in the SUV market. Apart from the Indian market, the Kia Seltos also attains certain success in other countries. Compared to the India-spec version, the international-spec Kia Seltos is almost similar. According to the manufacturer specs, the Kia Seltos comes with 433-litre cargo space. It can be considered the best in the segment. On the other hand, Hyundai Creta only offers a 400-litre cargo space. Moreover, with the 60-40 split rear seats, the boot room can even be expanded further, allowing more room for storage. It is noted that the loading lip of the boot room is well-designed, neither too high nor too low, creating easy opening and closing. The host also mentions that Kia Seltos would have done better with smart features like hand-free boot opening or power tailgate, These features are currently available in some other rivals.  

During the first part of the video, the host went on explaining the flexibility of the boot space and how we can optimize the space. Later on, he has done an experiment to find out how many suitcases he can load to the Kia Seltos’s cargo. The result is quite surprising. The boot room manages to fit five 21-inch trolly luggage. Even after being loaded with five bags, the cargo can still offer a decent amount of empty space. Afterwards, the experiment is continued with other miscellaneous stuff like a baby stroller and laundry baskets. In the regular setting, the boot space can hold up to 7 laundry basket. With the rear seats fold up, the Kia Seltos can keep up to 16 laundry basket on its cargo room. From this small experiment, we can see how impressively large the boot space of Kia Seltos can be.

Kia Seltos is currently available with three choices of engines, including two petrol and one diesel. The only 1.5-litre diesel is powerful enough to churn out 115PS/ 250Nm. This engine comes with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter gearbox. The other two petrol engines, a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and 1.4-litre turbo petrol, makes 115PS/144Nm and 140PS/242Nm, respectively. The turbo engine is paired to either a 6-speed torque converter or 7-speed DCT while the 1.5-litre petrol is available with two choices of 6-speed MT or iVT. Kia Seltos is priced from Rs 9.89 lakh to Rs 17.34 lakh. The compact SUV is competing against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, as well as Tata Harrier and MG Hector.
