Youth Drags Policeman On Bonnet Of His Maruti Ertiga

A youth and his father have been booked for dragging a policeman on the bonnet of their Maruti Ertiga in Jalandhar.

The country has been dealing with tough times since March this year. To curb the spread of this notorious pathogen, a nationwide lockout has been imposed since March 23, 2020. And, to keep the citizens stay in their houses, the government is taking help from state police, paramilitary forces and other enforcement authorities. In case, someone has an emergency to deal with, police have set up check posts at every corner to control the traffic movement. But it seems like all of this is not acceptable by some souls. As, in Jalandhar, when a man was asked to stop his Maruti Ertiga by a policeman, he refused and dodged the check post. Also, when a police officer jumped on the bonnet of the Ertiga, this gentleman kept driving it with the cop on the hood.

After a few meters, when the car stopped, police personals gathered around it and dragged the driver out. It can be seen in the video that the policemen started slapping the guy. They also hurled abuses at him and took him into the custody. All of it is unacceptable but there's no denying that the foolhardiness displayed by the driver. The driver has been identified as one Anmol Mehmi. According to Mr. Gurpreet Singh, Commissioner, Jalandhar Police, the policeman who was dragged on the bonnet of the car was Assistant SubInspector Mulkh Raj. He is fine and has not suffered any injury. However, he could have got seriously hurt. 

The Commissioner further confirmed that the youth has been booked under section 307, 353, 3, 186, and 188 of Indian Penal Code. Also, section 3(2) of Epidemic Disease Act and 51 of Disaster Management Act have also been charged against the youth and his father, who was along with him at the time of the incident.

The youth was accompanied by his father when he dragged the policeman on the bonnet of his Maruti Ertiga.
