The images of the production Tata Harrier SUV has been revealed. So how does this version differ from the concept that we have seen before?

Back in the Auto Expo 2018, Tata Motors has all taken by surprise with its striking models named Tata H5X. Soon after the introduction at the Auto Expo, Tata has confirmed that the H5X will go into production under the name Tata Harrier. And recently, the first production version of the Harrier has been rolled out, and now we can give you the full account of the exterior changes in the Harrier compared with its concept H5X.

Now, let’s look at the twists and updates given to the production version.

1. Front look

1.1. Headlamp and fog lamps

On the Harrier, it comes clear that it will integrate the headlamps and fog lamp into one housing. This double-tier headlamps unit has been hinted at the concept with an extra-large and imposing fog light housing but we still don’t know how it will translate into reality. The thin trim of the LED lamp at the very end of the grille on the concept now makes room for the LED DRLs.

1.2. Bumper and skid plates

On the concept version, the unique tooth-shaped skid plate noticeably stands out on the front. However, this feature design is ironed out in the production version and replaced by simple and straightforward grey skid place.

1.3. Larger air dam and grille

One the H5X concept, the grille doesn’t swallow large estate on the front face. But to the production version, it features a larger unit with honey-comb details. And the space for the H5X badge is wiped out on the final version and replaced with the larger air dam.

2. Side look

2.1. Alloy wheels

If the H5X showcased imposing 21-inch alloys with elegant design. However, on the production version, they are reduced to larger wheels of 17 inches and don’t look as posh as in the concept model. It is a really a down step from the previous design, but you will not blame Tata if considering the cost added for such a giant wheelset.

2.2. Mild slope roofline

On the Auto Expo, the H5X appeared with a strongly swooping roofline, exaggerating the sleekness. But when translated into reality, it has been lessened. Instead, it gets the swooping shoulder line running toward the rear tail lights, keeping the sleek look at a certain level. Looking on the bright side, this solution will optimize the headroom for the passengers, making the Harrier practical enough to introduce to the mass costumers.

2.3. Toned-down ORVMs

To the side, one small change is given to the ORVMs. On the H5X, this unit looks particularly stylish, but to the H5X, this design is replaced by a common look.

3. Rear look

Rear bumper and skid plates

Just like in the front, the rugged and exaggerate bumper is reworked to have a more humble look. However, these are just minor changes. The general rear look remains mostly the same. The rear even steps up the game with the slime black piano trim connecting the headlights.

The rear look of the Harrier is not much different than the H5X concept

On an overall remark, the production version Tata Harrier has stepped down from a sleek and imposing design of the concept version to a more practical and mature design. With some minor changes, the production still lives up to our expectation with its modern and expressive look.
