Unlike the booming and thriving segment of SUVs, the sedan space sees fewer developments and fewer high-profile launches. That being said, models of this space retain their appeal to a certain group of buyers. One of these best-selling models of the sedan space is Maruti Dzire. This sedan has been on sale for years now. Last year, Maruti has launched the BSVI-updated Maruti Dzire facelift. Along with a few exterior updates, the sedan also comes with a reworked engine that offers more powerful performance and better fuel mileage. Let’s see what the new 2021 Maruti Dzire has under its sleeves.
Maruti Dzire Exterior
Since its launch, Maruti Dzire was well-known for its distinctive elegant and handsome design. For the facelift version, Maruti has added some subtle updates that refresh the appeal and slightly improve the road presence of the Dzire.
On the front end, the facelifted Dzire gets a revised low-hang grille which is larger and more dominant than the previous model. The lower air dam is integrated with the grille and the number place also sits inside the grille frame. The added silver accents on the corner of the foglight housing also highlight the sharpness and boldness of the new Dzire. These updates prove to be effective in transforming the appearance of the sedan.
The fascia is where most of the updates took place. The side profile, on the other hand, remains unchanged. It comes with the same simple and straightforward design. There are the same slightly flared wheel arches, short rear overhangs, and set of multi-spoke wheels. To be honest, the sides of this hatchback look outdated and obviously need some touch-ups for whatever comes next. The same story goes for the rear end. There is the same kink on edge of the rear bonnet. The boot lid gets a chrome-garnished bar running across its width. Frankly, there is nothing to look at for the end of the design.
Maruti Dzire Dimension
The facelifted Maruti Dzire retains similar dimensions. It measures 3995 mm in length. The width and height stand at 1735 mm and 1515 mm. The wheelbase remains the same length of 2450 mm. The boot space of the Maruti Dzire is 378 litres.

Interior Design
Since the recent update is just a facelift, we could not expect to get comprehensive updates. ON the inside, there are only a few minor updates, including a lighter colour for the wooden inserts. For most parts, the interior remains identical to the pre-facelift version. It comes with the same flat-bottom steering wheels, premium leather, and faux wood inserts. Similar to the previous model, the new Dzire gets nicely designed duals, high-quality knobs, and buttons. Agreeably, it should be much better if the Dzire got better plastic quality.
Interior feature
There are a few notable updates for the Dzire when it comes to the interior features. For example, the top-spec ZXi variants get an upgraded 7-inch SmartPlay Studio infotainment system, new 4.2-inch coloured MID between the dials. In addition, the Dzire also gets an auto-folding ORVMs (outside rearview mirrors) and cruise control. However, it would be better if the Dzire could catch up with the recent trends in the market by adding some much-wanted features like wireless charging, air purifier, and more. That being said, the
Seating and Comfort
Both the front and rear seats can offer a high level of comfort with good support. On the front end, there is plenty of space. On the back seats, the space is ample as well. Thanks to the long wheelbase of 2,450 mm, the rear passengers get loads of legroom. There is also a rear air vent for the rear bench, offering a pleasant driving experience for the rear occupants.
Safety
On the safety front, Maruti Dzire is fitted with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchor, and parking sensor as standard. For the AMT variants, there are also some adds-on like electronic stability control and hill hold assist. Higher-spec variants, both manual and automatic, comes with a rear-view camera, rear defogger.
Maruti Dzire Engines
The most important updates of the 2020 Dzire come in form of the new powertrain. Prior to the facelift, Maruti Dzire was powered by a 1.2-litre petrol that made 83 PS and 113 Nm. On the new facelift, this engine is replaced with a new 1.2-liter DualJet unit, the same engine used on the Baleno. While the torque power remains the same, the power figure is increased by 7 PS. It comes with either a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT. Along with a new engine, the Dzire also gets idle start/stop technology that increases fuel efficiency. To be specific, the petrol-manual combination registered a claimed fuel mileage of 23.26 kmpl which is around 2 kmpl higher than the old version. The ARAI fuel mileage of the automatic version is rated at 24.12 kmpl against the previous version’s 21.21 kmpl.
Will these improvements on paper translate into better real-life performance? The answer is yes. Thanks to the added 7 points, the Dzire is now able to start off in a more confident manner. The engine offers smoother and more responsive performance than the old K12 petrol unit. Acceleration is fast and effortless and the power delivery is linear. All these attributes allow the Dzire to maneuver around the city in a relaxed and calm manner. Even at the lower end of the rev range, the engine still performs decently and responsively.
Maruti Dzire Prices
The new updates have brought along a minor price hike across the range. Maruti Dzire is now available from Rs 5.89 lakh to Rs 8.81 lakh. You can check the full price details in the table below.
