Renault Triber MPV is projected to be launched in the second half of this year. Recently, two sketches of the MPV's front and rear have been released on the Internet.

Renault India is speeding up to launch the Renault Triber, the 7-seater affordable MPV based on the Kwid. Underpinned by the same platform as the Renault Kwid, the Triber MPV belongs to the sub-4-meter vehicle segment. The same platform means that the MPV and the hatchback share some of the features which are for the first time equipped on an Indian MPV, like the foldable third seat row which can be either put up to house two more passengers or completely folded to expand the cargo area. Firstly, let’s have a look at the design sketches of the Renault Triber in this video.

As per the sketches, the Triber will feature a tallboy design, which is totally different from the Renault Kwid. Some of the exterior outstanding features include sporty polishing headlights, a wide three-slat V-shaped radiator grille, and a large honeycomb lower grille. In the rear, the Renault Triber features robust polishing taillights and a faux skid plate to make it resemble an SUV as much as possible.

On the other hand, the Renault Triber’s cabin will share most of its features with the Kwid, but with different design touches and paint schemes. Some of the standard safety features to be equipped on the Triber will include airbags, ABS, reverse parking sensors, speed alert system, seatbelt warning. These features will help the MPV comply with the Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program (BNVSAP).

The Renault Triber will continue to be powered by a 1-litre 3-cylinder petrol motor borrowed from the Kwid, but with improved power/torque figures. The power/torque output figures are anticipated to be up to 75 bhp against 100 Nm (from 68 bhp against 100 Nm). Renault may have realized the decreasing popularity of diesel motors in India, which is the reason why there will be no diesel engine option available on the MPV. LPG and CNG options are expected to be offered by the French automaker in the foreseeable future. The transmission duties are likely to be undertaken by a 5-speed AMT gearbox and an optional 5-speed AMT unit.

The Renault Triber is expected to borrow the motors from the Kwid, but with an enhanced power/torque output.

Renault has designed the Triber particularly for the emerging auto markets like India, Indonesia and Brazil. The MPV is projected to be launched in India in July 2019 and once launched, will become one of the most reasonably priced MPVs in India with an introductory price of INR 5 lakh. With a contemporary design, it has a clear advantage over its competitors such as the Datsun Go+ and the Maruti Eeco.
