Hyundai Creta is one of the most popular SUVs in India, and used to be the segment leader before the advent of Kia Seltos and MG Hector in India. Now though, Hyundai seems to have changed the recipe to suit the Indian buyers’ taste.
The new 2020 Hyundai Creta is an all-new model. Followers of IndianAuto would remember that this vehicle is based on the Hyundai ix-25 that was launched in China recently. The car features a lot of new details in terms of design, equipment, and mechanicals.

On the design front, the most apparent change is at the front. The headlamp and front-grille design are all-new. The Creta’s design is inspired by the Palisade SUV, Hyundai’s flagship model in the international market. The headlamp is vertically split, with an LED DRL strip running horizontally above and another boomerang LED strip running outwards from below it.

The side profile is quite butch, with 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels adorning the vehicle. Their design is also new for the next-gen model. The car unveiled at Auto Expo 2020 featured a lot of plastic as well on the exterior, especially the C-pillar, which complements the black paint scheme of the Hyundai SUV on display. Not sure how this particular detail shall look on other paint options.
The taillight design is also new, with LEDs this time around. There is also a large ‘CRETA” badging on the boot lid, a design detail popular in SUVs nowadays. There is also a panoramic sunroof on offer, which elevates the premium-ness of the SUV.
On the mechanical front, nothing has been revealed by Hyundai at this point. That said, we have a pretty good idea about what the South Korean car giant will offer in the second-generation Creta. Kia, Hyundai’s sister brand, had recently launched Kia Seltos in the Indian market, and that too to quite an overwhelming success. That SUV came with three engine options: 1.5-litre petrol (115PS/144Nm), a 1.5-litre diesel (115PS/250Nm), and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol (140PS/242Nm), all BS6-compliant. These same engines will be featured in the Creta as well, helping keep the cost of production down.
