Hyundai has finally launched the BS-6 Elantra with a 1.5L diesel engine. It is the same unit that does duties on the lesser Verna facelift, which was launched in March, earlier this year. The prices for the diesel variants of the Elantra start at Rs. 18.70 lakh. In comparison to the Elantra, the smaller Verna is priced at Rs. 10.30 lakh for the base-spec diesel trim. The 1.5L oil burner in the Elantra is offered in the same tune as on the Verna facelift. Therefore, it continues to push out a peak power and torque output of 115 PS and 250 Nm, respectively. The transmission options on offer are identical to the Verna as well. It gets the option of a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AT.

Also, Hyundai has revised the prices for the petrol trims of the Elantra, which now start at Rs. 17.60 lakh. However, the petrol-powered BS-6 Elantra was launched in October last year at a starting price of Rs. 15.89 lakh. The petrol motor on the Elantra is a 2.0L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated setup, which is capable of belting out a peak power output of 152 PS and 192 Nm of max torque. It can be had mated to either a 6-speed stick shift or a 6-speed torque converter type AT.

Talking of the feature list, Elantra comes with a long one. It comprises of equipment such as, LED projector headlamps with DRLs, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, cooled glovebox, keyless entry & go with push-button start-stop system, wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, electric sunroof, Infinity sound system and more. On the safety front, the Elantra gets 6 airbags, TPMS, vehicle stability management, ISOFIX child seat mounts, front & rear parking sensor with rear parking camera, cruise control, and hill-start assist.
