Last year, Hyundai launched its first-ever electric SUV, the Kona Electric, which has garnered a positive responses from the Indian EV buyers. While the Kona became the first electric SUV of the country, it was followed by the MG ZS EV and the Tata Nexon EV. The latter is not the most affordable electric SUV in the country. However, in order to gatecrash the party, Hyundai will be coming up with a Venue-based EV that would hold a huge price advantage over the Kona.

Positioned below the Kona in the company’s EV range, Hyundai’s upcoming electric SUV will not only rival the Tata Nexon EV but even the upcoming Mahindra eXUV300. Apparently, the new Hyundai model will be a made-for-India mass-market EV that will be a worldclass product in spite of an attractive price tag. The company has even revealed its plan to turn India into an export hub for this promising vehicle.

As Hyundai has achieved quite some success with the Kona Electric, which is on sale at around Rs 23.7 Lakh (ex-showroom, India), we expect the new EV from the South Korean auto giant to perform even better. The Hyundai Kona Electric is a well-sorted EV that boasts of an upmarket cabin, new-age features, a powerful performance as well as zero emissions ,but it comes with a high price tag that acts a major deterrent for many. The Tata Nexon EV, on the other hand, comes across as a more affordable alternative to the Kona Electric with its introductory price of Rs 13.99 Lakh (ex-showroom). Hence, it makes perfect sense for Hyundai to come up with a more affordable model than its current electric offering
