Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is planning to launch some new products in the country in 2019. In order to enter the segment which it is not currently present, Hyundai is going to introduce the Styx SUV which is partially developed on the Carlino concept showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and is projected to be launched in mid-2019.

The Hyundai Styx is partially based upon the Carlino concept debuted at the 2016 Auto Expo
Named as Hyundai Styx, the smallest Hyundai SUV will not only be offered to India but also to other countries since it has been spotted testing in South Korea and the USA. The Styx will fulfil the sub-4 metre criterion for tax exemptions and also get a high level of localization to keep the price down.
The Hyundai Styx will take the design cues from the latest Hyundai's design philosophy with an upright position
As regards the exterior, the Styx compact SUV is anticipated to follow the newest design philosophy of Hyundai with an upright posture and such features as a Cascading grille, split-type headlights in the front; sharp body panels on the side profile and a condensed rear.
The full interior feature list on the top-spec variant will include
Multi-functional driving wheel
Wide touchscreen infotainment unit which supports voice recognition, satellite navigation, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
Speed control
Start/stop button
The Hyundai Styx is expected to be equipped with the standard features across all the variants as follows
Two front airbags
ABS with EBD
Seatbelt alert for the driver and the front passenger
Speed alert
Reverse parking sensor
Under the hood of the Styx compact SUV is speculated to be two engine options. The first one will be a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit which can produce a max power of 118 bhp against a peak torque of 171 Nm and is mated to a 6-speed MT gearbox. The other one will be a brand-new 1.5L diesel motor. The mechanical specifications of this engine have not been disclosed, but it is likely to deliver almost 115 hp of power and is coupled to a 6-speed MT or a 4-speed AT gearbox.

The Hyundai Styx will be available with multiple motor options
Once launched in India, the Hyundai Styx compact SUV is expected to be priced in the range from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, it will rival the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the Ford EcoSport, the Tata Nexon and the upcoming Mahindra XUV300.
