At the Auto Expo 2020 held in Delhi this year, MG Motors unveiled what could be its first sedan for the Indian market- the MG RC-6. Based on the Baojun RC-6 sedan which is available in China, the MG RC-6 is a unique, eye-grabbing sedan that takes plenty of inspirations from an SUV and a coupe.

On the design front, the MG RC-6 features a distinctive exterior design that showcases a good combination of a sedan, a coupe and an SUV. The side profile of the MG RC-6 seems to be inspired by the BMW 3 Series GT with a coupe-like tapering roofline.

The elongated profile retains its traditional sedan characters while the 198 mm- ground clearance gives the car an impressive SUV-like road presence, all blending well together to roll out an elegant yet sporty sedan model.
In line with the shiny design of other MG cars, the MG RC-6 carries a massive grille finished in chrome elements at the front. The well-sculpted bumpers along with the sleek-looking rear profile, diamond-cut alloy wheels, ORVMs-mounted indicators, panoramic sunroof are also the unmistakable design features of the British car family.
Just like the MG Hector, the cabin of the RC-6 is premium and well-equipped with plenty of modern and hi-tech features. The five-seat cabin of the sedan features a dual-screen interface including a touchscreen for the infotainment system and one display for the instrumentation. It also comes with leatherette upholstery, flat-bottom multifunction steering, automatic climate control, ambient lighting and a suite of connected car features as seen in the MG Hector.
Under the bonnet, the MG RC-6 will borrow the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine from the Hector sibling. This petrol engine can be had with a mild-hybrid system and will come mated to a 6-speed MT or an automatic CVT unit. It can churn out 145 HP of max power and 250 Nm of peak torque.
MG Hector Plus (7-seater) Expected To Launch By Year-End
Until now, MG is yet to let out any official statement on the launch of the RC-6 but we are sure that the sedan will ultimately come to us very soon. The expected launch timeline of the MG RC-6 is around early 2021. It is said to be priced competitively to take on the likes of Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Elantra or Honda Civic.
