Hyundai entered the India market back in 1996 with its headquarter located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Hyundai made its debut with the famous hatchback, Hyundai Santro which has currently made a return after years of discontinuation. Throughout the year, Hyundai has developed and become the second-largest car manufacturer in India. Unlike the market-leading Maruti brand which is positioned as a brand of affordable cars with high value for money, Hyundai is well-known for its well-equipped quality products which are usually offered at a more premium price range. Each time Hyundai introduced a new car, it would be the time the car market see the new benchmark set.
The Indian branch of the South Korean car brand has built up a strong presence in the domestic market with a wide range of vehicles across the different segment. At the moment, Hyundai’s portfolio is comprising of eleven vehicles, namely, Grand i10 Santro, Elite i20, i20 Active, Verna, Venue, Creta and Tucson as well as an electric vehicle Hyundai Kona. Most of Hyundai’s cars are among the best-selling models of its respective segment. For example, in the hatchback segment, both Hyundai Santro and Grand i10 claims huge popularity while Hyundai Venue and Creta attracts great following in the SUV segment. Its first electric vehicle, Hyundai Kona is a prominent name in the fledging EV market in India.
In the future, the South Korean carmaker is planning to launch some new vehicles as well as give new updates to its current line-up.
