Hyundai has recently launched the second-generation Creta in the country. However, a nationwide lockout was imposed just a few days after the Creta’s launch. But that hasn’t stopped this C-SUV to garaner a large number of bookings. As of now, Hyundai has garnered more than 20,000 bookings for the car, out of which, 11,000 bookings are for the diesel variant. Of course, the remaining 9,000 are for the petrol variants, but it should be noted that Hyundai offers two petrol engine options with the latest Creta. There is a 1.5L naturally-aspirated motor and a 1.4L turbo-petrol engine on offer. While a total of 7,920 unit of Creta are booked with the former configuration, the latter could only attract 1,080 orders.

Hyundai understands the prime requirement of the Indian market. To perform well in this big and important market, a car has to be adequately powerful, affordably priced, and fuel-efficient as well. Therefore, the prices of the Creta start at Rs. 9.99 lakhs, and it is offered with 3 engine options. There is a 115 PS 1.5L diesel engine, which is the most loved option by the customers, followed by the 115 PS 1.5L N/A petrol motor. The last on the list is a 140 PS 1.4L turbo-petrol mill.
It is also the one that has the lowest contribution to the total bookings. It should be noted that the 1.5L petrol and diesel motors can be had in the base-variants which start at Rs. 9.99 lakh, to the contrary, cheapest trim level with the turbo-petrol motor costs Rs. 16.16 lakh. Also, it isn’t available with an option of a manual transmission, either.

Talking of the fuel efficiency numbers, the 1.5L diesel unit returns the highest figure of the lot at 21.4 kmpl, while both the petrol motors deliver a combined fuel efficiency of 16.8 kmpl. Therefore, it is evident, why masses are opting for diesel variants over their petrol counterparts. Also, the diesel motor boasts of peak torque of 250 Nm, which is higher than 144 Nm and 240 Nm produced by 1.5L petrol and 1.4L petrol motor, respectively.
