The all-new model looks sporty and is bigger in dimensions as compared to the previous-gen car. It gets LED headlamps and a sporty looking bumper along with a large honeycomb-mesh grille up front. Moreover, the premium hatchback also employs 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels, Z-shaped connected LED taillights, spoiler with integrated stop lamp and a well sculpted rear bumper.
Inside, the new-gen Hyundai i20 offers a roomier and way more premium cabin. It features increased seating space for the rear passengers, more luggage space, new steering wheel with audio and voice controls, a 10.25-inch virtual instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The India-spec version will even offer the BlueLink connected apps suite.
In our market, the new-gen model will be offered with three different BS6-compliant powertrain options- a 1.2-litre MPi mill, a 1.0-litre T-GDi unit and a 1.5-litre U2 CRDi unit. The base petrol engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, while the turbo option will be offered with a 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic choices. The oil-burner will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

One can expect the India-spec 2020 i20 to be shorter in length in order to duck under the 4-metre slab for overall length. Reports suggest that Hyundai is planning to launch the new-gen model in September this year. The upcoming premium hatchback will be likely retailed at a starting price tag of Rs 5.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Once launched, the new-gen Hyundai i20 will compete with the likes of Maruti Baleno and Tata Altroz.
