From the looks of it, the 2020 Hyundai Verna facelift will launch in India just in time to take on the all new Honda City that will likely launch in a couple of months

The C2-sedan segment of the Indian car market looks poised to heat up as the new Honda City 2020 is all set to launch in a couple of months. However, things are bound to become hotter as arch rival, Hyundai Verna, is also in the process of getting a pretty comprehensive facelift. While an official launch date is yet to be released, it’s fairly possible that the two new sedans would be introduced within a few days of each other.

The refreshed Hyundai Verna for India won't look exactly like its Chinese sibling but could be a replica of the Russian model

Unlike the new-gen Creta, which looks largely similar to the China-spec ix25, the local version of the updated Verna won’t mirror its Chinese sibling to a large extent. This revelation comes from a new set of images that recently surfaced Instagram. Instead of featuring a rather dramatic set of styling updates, the Indian version would simply gain a V-shape grille similar to the one on the Russia-spec model. Even the new alloy wheels seem to have come from the same source.

Other than a new grille, the front fascia of the 2020 Hyundai Verna facelift for India would have full-LED headlamps and a sportier bumper with new foglamps. The rear will house a sportier set of LED taillamps and a new bumper with a faux diffuser. All these updates should work together to give the Honda City-adversary a fresher and crispier look.

In all likelihood, the 2020 Hyundai Verna facelift will even get a more comprehensive equipment package, which would include several premium features. The highlight of the cabin will be a new floating-type touchscreen infotainment unit, while the new model would even feature the BlueLink connected features suite that debuted on the Venue. Other than this, the new will even receive a new trim and a fresh upholstery.

Verna facelift will be sold with BSVI-compliant 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines that will be shared with the 2020 Creta

The changes won’t be limited to the styling package. Unlike the outgoing version, which is available with 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine options, the new model will have 1.5-litre motors. Both the fuel variants will have a maximum power of 115PS. Also, an optional automatic transmission will be on offer on both the engine options.
