The French automaker Renault has finally unveiled the all-new Kwid EV in the European markets, where it’ll be retailed with a different brand name as Dacia spring Electric. It is scheduled to hit the European shores by the end of next year. The electric hatchback features some cosmetic tweaks but is based on the DNA of original Renault Kwid. Taking about the changes, it features newly designed moveable grille upfront, which features car’s charging port. The hatchback also employs automatic LED headlamps, LED taillights with Y-shaped lighting.

It’ll be available with a new “Orange Pack”, which give a special orange treatment to EV’s mirrors, sidebars and front grille. The electric car was revealed at Renault’s EWays event. The carmaker has positioned it as the most affordable electric car and expected new Spring EV to be the top-selling car in Dacia’s stable in the near future. To give it a crossover type look, the automaker has added bits like faux skid plates at the front and rear, blacked-out wheel arches and low-mounted headlamps.
At the Renault EWays event, the car-sharing version of the EV was also revealed. Mechanically, it derives power from a 33 kW electric motor, which develops up to 125 Nm of peak torque. It gets a 28.6 kWh battery, which is rated to offer 295 km of range as per WLTP driving cycle. The automaker also offers a Wallbox charger, which can charge the battery up to 100 per cent in 4 hours and 27 minutes.

With a DC charge, on the other hand, the electric hatchback can charge to 80 per cent in just 50 minutes. Nevertheless, the car can also be charged using any common domestic socket. Inside, it comes loaded with features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 3.5-inch colour MID, assisted, camera parking, power windows, and remote lock. Right now, Renault has no plans to introduce Dacia Spring EV in the Indian market.
