Skoda India has finally launched the BS6 Rapid in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The updated sedan was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 earlier this year. The 1.6-litre MPI naturally-aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre TDI turbocharged diesel engines offered with the BS4 Skoda Rapid are now replaced with a new 1.0-litre TSI turbocharged three-pot petrol motor.

The new 2020 Skoda Rapid is priced between Rs 7.49 lah to Rs 11.79 lakh
The old engines were four-cylinder units. The new 1.0-litre turbo-petrol three-pot mill churns out 110 PS of peak power at 5,000-5,250 rpm and 175 Nm of twisting force at 1,750-4,000 rpm. Transmission duties are done by a 6-speed manual gearbox. The sedan is rated to offer a range of 18.97 kmpl.

The carmaker has plans to introduce an optional 6-speed automatic gearbox with the BS6 Rapid later this year. Along with the BS6-compliant powertrain, the C2-segment sedan has also received a new touchscreen infotainment system and Tellular Grey two-tone leather upholstery.
The carmarker will also introduce a 6-speed torque converter with the new Rapid in the coming months
Skoda Enyaq EV Rendered, Launch Later This Year
The new model gets an 8-inch touchscreen unit with built-in navigation. The 2020 Skoda Rapid is being offered in five different trim levels, namely- Rider, Ambition, Onyx, Style and Mote Carlo. Moreover, the carmaker is also offering the sedan in six unique colour shade options such as Carbon Steel, Brilliant Silver, Toffee Brown, Lapiz Blue and Flash Red. It rubs shoulders with the likes of Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and VW Vento. The carmaker has plans to launch the new-gen Rapid in the Indian market by next year.
