Korean carmaker Kia Motors has planned to introduce a new compact SUV in Auto Expo 2020 in New Delhi, although the SP Concept production version would be Kia Motor’s focus in the Indian market in 2019. This global debut model will mark the first entry of Kia in the sub-four-metre compact SUV segment in the domestic market.

According to Kia, this all-new compact SUV will take on the likes of Ford Ecosport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, and the Tata Nexon. Besides, it will be pitted against the upcoming SUV models from Hyundai and Mahindra as well. It is expected to be the smallest offering worldwide in Kia's portfolio.
In a press release recently, Manohar Bhat, the Head of Sales & Marketing has stated the compact SUV is “in keeping with its strategy to roll out a new made-in-India model every six months”.

As for the design, the SUV will be underpinned by the same platform as the Hyundai QXi compact SUV which will be on offer in March 2019. However, it was still claimed to be refreshed in terms of the body shell. Regarding the interior, the compact SUV will be replete with a host of equipment with premium-looking interior and high-end touchscreen infotainment system.
Although there has been no information related to the engine and gearbox options, the upcoming Kia SUV is expected to be equipped with a turbo-petrol and diesel engines.
