Kia Motors has showcased its e-Niro SUV at the Auto Expo 2020. Read on further details on the Hyundai Kona Electric-rivalling model.

At Kia’s pavilion at the Auto Expo 2020, the long-range version of Kia e-Niro SUV is being displayed to the press and public. The Kia e-Niro is an electric SUV that will be a fierce rival to its distant-cousin, Hyundai Kona Electric globally.

The e-Niro comes as a part of three eco-friendly Kia Niro SUVs which also includes Kia Niro Hybrid and Niro Plug-in Hybrid. Being a dedicated electric vehicle, the long-range Kia e-Niro employs a 64 kWh lithium-ion battery pack along with an electric motor that produces 204 PS of power and 395 Nm of torque. The e-Niro can sprint up from 0 – 100 kmph in 7.8 seconds and gets a top speed of 167 kmph. The maximum driving range is claimed at 455 km.

Like the Niro Hybrid and Niro PHEV, the Kia e-Niro boasts a sleek design on the outside but still bringing some subtle styling cues that highlight the cleaner powertrain. It comes with a closed Tiger-nose grille used to accommodate the charging port, refreshed headlamps, and LED daytime running lamps, along with some blue surrounds on the front bumper. The distinctive 17-inch alloy wheels are aerodynamically enhanced and becomes the major highlight on the side profile of the model.

In the Indian market, the Kia e-Niro won’t be launched here anytime soon. It is put on display at the Auto Expo 2020 to demonstrate the brand’s EV technology only. Apart from the e-Niro, Kia also brings a lot of vehicles to the weekly motor show like the Kia Seltos X-Line concept, Kia Sonet, etc. The South Korean brand also launched the Kia Carnival at the Auto Expo 2020 as the company's second product for India.
